Icon4 B18C1 Burning Oil

Hey guys,

I recently swapped my 1997 Integra LS with a OBD2A GSR engine. Since then, I've been burning lots of oil (about half a quart every couple of days or so). It's not just when I engage VTEC, when I come to a stop at a red light, I'll see a cloud of smoke roll past my window sometimes. I'm not sure if I just have some vacuum lines routed wrong (I have a CEL for EVAP code) or if my piston rings are shot. I upgraded the intake manifold and throttle body when I did the swap, so that's why I'm wondering if it could just be the way the oil vapors aren't being routed properly. Any suggestions? Or if somebody has some pictures of the routing of all the vacuum lines to a Skunk2 intake manifold/throttle body setup on an OBD2 B18C1 engine, I could validate mine.

Thanks,

Are you seeing more oil burning while driving or while sitting like when you said sitting at a red light? Do you know how many miles are on the motor? And was it an issue before you did the intake manifold upgrades?

It smokes all the time, when I get on it and VTEC is engaged, it smokes a lot. And then when I'm sitting at a red light, it'll puff out a cloud of smoke just sitting there, too. The engine has about 190k miles on it. My B18B1 that came out of the car has over a quarter of a million miles and it doesn't burn a drop. I've only ever ran the engine with the upgraded manifold.

I was originally thinking maybe valve seals? But i believe an indicator of that is smoking while sitting. I could be wrong though. Does it feel down on power at all?

Maybe time to Frankenstein both motors together and LSVTEC.

I would check the pcv valve first could be stuck open. What type and weight of oil are you running?

also did you do a compression test or leak down?

I have the PCV valve off of my B18B1 I could try and see if there's a difference. I'm using conventional Castrol GTX 5W-30. And no, I did not do a compression test but I will when I get a chance.

It's hard to say because I went from a B18B1 straight to the B18C1 with an intake manifold and throttle body. So, it's not like I got to drive it before having this issue. I've had the issue since the day I got the swap up and running.
