B18B1 wants to start but wont
I just replaced my head gasket on a B18B1 engine. Was working great for 2 weeks. Then yesterday it started acting like the head gasket was blown again. However, my car wont start. It wants to but it just wont. I checked the spark plugs. 1,2, and 3 spark plugs were wet will gas. I checked all electric connections and hose which are all good. I'm thinking my block or head is warped. Also, when my car is cold and I try to start it there is a lot of air pressure released when I take off the radiator cap Wondering what you guys think?

Why did you replace the head gasket? Was it blown? If you overheated the head and/or the block could be warped!! If there is pressure in the coolant system when the engine is cold that is a problem!

Yea, the head gasket was blown. Just found out the head gasket is an after market model made in Taiwan. I dont know whether my problem is because I gotta cheap head gasket or because the head/block is warped. Any way to tell?

Research the subject lol, but seriously use a straight level across the block and head, Pull the head first of course. If there is anywhere the flat of the block or head (i.e. the gasket surfaces) does not touch the level it is warped.

When you pull the gasket off you will see where it was blown (material will be missing, or damaged probably around clinder walls). After you get your strait edge i would check around that cylinder. There is a spec for the head and block , but it is very small dont know off the top of my head. Just research it like hondad6 said, double check everything. If you are not comfortable doing it then take your head to a machine shop and have them check it for you. Good Luck

So I checked my car today to see if it would start and IT STARTED??!! I drove it around the blocks a few times. It did not overheat. However, when I parked it in front of my house it started chugging again, white smoke came out of the exhaust and the cel started blinking again.

Could be emission control check pcv valve. sounds like oil being pulled into the intake. Could still be head gasket though. cold start had gasket sealed then expansion opened it back up possibly?
