it happens. it may sound stupid as f-ck, but i put together a ground kit, and with my new Nitto NT-555s (no ****), it stopped. i don't know WTF, but i'm just glad it did because that hurts like hell when you're not expecting it.

The tyre compound has lots to do with it. As the manufacturers change the compound to enhance the rolling resistance, hardness and durability of the tyre, they are reducing the carbon black compound within the tyre. In the end, they add synthetic silica which does not dissipate static electricity as well.

Eh? I don't know about that.
It's from the cloth seats, and the material that your clothes is made of.
Just ground yourself before fueling.

humm...Glad I'm not the only one,LOL. I was also embarrassed about posting this but I get a nice shock every now and then, But I look funny when I get gas I'm touching the car and stuff and then I turn and there's always someone watching others pump gas and Damn do I feel embarrassed

funny that this thread came up. i used to get a shock everytime i got out of my teg, but after i got my alarm i was never shocked again. it's a 90gs
i think the shock is from locking the door witrh power locks, then when you get out you get a shock, i dunno why but that's the best i could figure

So, don't believe me when the tyres has to do with static? But on your leather shoes and shuffle through carpet. Touch something metal. Then Put on real rubber sneakers and do the same. Essentially your tyres are doing the same as it rolls on the surface of the road.
Still dont' belive me?

Ok, lets do an experiement on this board of who has what tyres and has experienced this static problem. I know that since I switched from tires that are less rubber, I experience shock. Yes, clothes has something to do with it but if your tyres don't dissipate the build up of electricity, then you get shocked. Heck if it had to do with clothes, then I'm sure the polyester from the 1970's would have cause even more problems with the gas pump fires. Its the tyres...

Yes!
This is the best thread ever! I used to have this problem. Man it would hurt! It was actually only when I wore my pair of adidas shoes.

Tires have a lot to do with it. There's been a study on it. Just can't remember where I read about it.

I get a nice shock every time I get out. EVERY time. Never shocks anyone else. And it used to be mild. Its gotten worse now. I forget every time too and it gets me every time.

i get it all the time, its a pretty powerful static shock too, its just because we have to rub our asses across the seats when we get out because our cars are fairly low.
