Default ABS

Well, probably a noob question but here I go. So I never really have felt abs or have had to use it till today. But I got some new tires on, but today a lady cut me off and I slammed on my brakes and just slid for days. I heard my tires make the chirping noise forever. How do I know if my ABS works? Anything I need to do or check? But yea, I ended up hitting a curb and now I need an alinement.

You should feel the brake pedal pulsate under your foot.

not really much else beside the pulsation. it seems like the little light would come on if it wasn't working, but some ppl around here say it doesn't... anyway, if u slammed ur brakes and flat spotted the tires (or took chunks of it out), then ur abs is not working, that would be the first clue... as far as your tires sliding to a halt... i'm not exactly sure how abs works, i know it just pulsates to keep it from completely locking up so it seems like you shouldn't have slid...

Well, I didn't notice the pulsation because I was focusing on not hitting the damn lady. But as for the light, my cluster is a JDM cluster and the SRS, ABS and seatbelts lights are on.

Pull the codes for the ABS and SRS lights the same way that you pull a CEL. They will tell you what is wrong.

Pull the code.

Sounds like it might be wheel speed sensor. I would check your connections to make sure they are tight and not corroded.

try to check the computers for the abs... all of us are independent car mechanics.. but abs is nothing to f with... take it to a pro brake place so they can check out the abs.. mines been doing it too... it pulsates now and then while driving... try to check fluids and if that doesnt work check the computers...
