like has been previously stated if vtec isnt engaging, you would feel a loss of power when vtec is supposed to engage if it even allowed you to revv past that point at all, but OP you have not confirmed or denied this

This is really lame. I don't even own a vtec car myself but I do know how they work and suppose to sound on a bone stock gsr. Your vtec is working bud unless the CEL codes for it. Think I'm wrong then show me evidence otherwise. I'll be glad to help.

I am well aware of this, hence the suggestion of removing the top of the air box as opposed to removing the air intake completely. You did not read very well. My focus has drifted from this forum. Perhaps I need to focus here a bit more.

General commentary: VTEC in a B18C1 is well designed and subtle. Like I said in the first response to this thread, you will have difficulty redlining the car if the VTEC is not working. The OP has yet to verify this behavior.

What if the OP just unplugs the VTEC solenoid.
Then he'll no what NO VTEC feels like.
Really a simple test.
