92/93 gs-r
Finding any information on this car is damn difficult, and yes I've tried the search button. Basically, I've owned a '92 rs and '99 se before (and btw preferred the DA), but always wanted 92/93 gs-r.
So my question is, are there any benefits, aside from cost, in getting a '93 vs. a '94 gs-r?. I already know all the specs, although 92/93 gs-r's are listed as mighty fast (6.7sec 0-60) in most online reviews.
Also, does anyone have any first hand experience driving both the b17a and b18c, as far as how noticeable the torque difference is?
Any other info regarding this car would be appreciated.
Thanks!
btw this is my first post here, so go easy

Re: 92/93 gs-r (testing...123)
first off. they are two totally different chassis', why not just go with the car you think looks best? both have enough oomph to get them going and are extremely modifiable. i personally would take the 92/93 gsr because of the rarity

Vtec isnt suppose to be "loud" or "hard" its suppose to be a nice smooth transition. I would look into doing a tune up to your car. And why would you have a stage 2 clutch on a stock motor? Do you not like your tranny and axles? 92-93 GSR's are slow, its pretty much a b16 in a integra, you might call it fast but its still a 15 second car. If 15 seconds is fast then what do you consider a 12 second car? Out of this world?

Re: 92/93 gs-r (slammedz6ef)
i had a 93 gsr.............until it got rear-ended about month and a half ago it was my first car and ive driven that as my dd and ive also drove another freinds '95 gsr tell you the truth i felt his car was faster, we actually did race once and i had him all through 1-4th gear and 5th gear he got ahead and everyone says im a good driver ANYWAYS my car was running shitty and it was very rich plus i had 261,000 km while my freinds 95 gsr had 124,000km but i still loved it to death and still do even thou its dead
*edit* within the 4-5 months i had the car ive probably only seen 5-10 92-93 gsr and maybe 40+ 94+ up gsr's and according to wikpedia the 92-93 gsr is the rarest integra to date.
*another edit* lol does anybody know how many 92-93 gsr were made?

They are not that fast. The G3 GS-R's are faster.

Re: 92/93 gs-r (testing...123)
I use to have a 92 GSR and the car was a lot of fun. Never drove a 94+ GSR but my guess would be that the power difference is very minimal. Even though I preffer the G2's more than G3's I would suggest getting a G3 if you are planning on modding since I had a tough time finding good name brands for the G2 GSR. If its just a dd then go with the G2. Things are hot. Everytime I see one it melts my heart.

Almost ANY B16/99-00Civic Si parts will fit on the motor. They are almost identical motors. Parts for a B17 are not hard to find at all they are just as easy, if not easier to find than GSR parts.

Re: (AWD Terror)
Thanks for all the info, but would anyone know where I could find information on speed in 2nd gear at redline in 2nd gen gs-r, sort of like it's provided here for 3rd gen's: http://www.itrsport.com/specifications.html
btw I posted this 'gear' question on 2nd Generation Forums, and no one could help me with it.
Thanks.

Re: 92/93 gs-r (testing...123)
I have a 92 GSR
everything but clutch, intake and exhaust was stock
It was a fun car, 1st gear is a total slug though. til you get to vtec. This always gave everyone a 1 car length lead off the line. But when vtec hit it was all over.
I loved it. I could heard the rod bearings about to go. So in order to preserve the motor I took it out and plan on rebuilding it.
I replaced it with a 94 JDM SIR-G motor. (180 bhp) with the lsd
compared to the (160 bhp) B17 the B18 is a monster!
Vtec kicking in at 4400 isn't as fun (huh you would think it would be) but it is just a whole different beast. 1st is much better in my 94 tranny. as he said about vtec supposed to be a smooth transmission, this is more true in the 94.
It is definitely not true in the B17.

Re: 92/93 gs-r (Greenbling)
The reason for the above very specific question re. 2nd gear speed, is that I am planning to autox the car (not at the national level - I know that this would not be THE car for my target class, DSP). Basically, I know that a third gen gsr would be better for that class, especially with Hoosier offering 275/35/15 A6's, but since I love the 2nd gen gsr's, I was planning on trying some 13" tires (possibily Hoosier 225/50/13).
Why? Well, we generally run shorter, tighter, slower courses so I figured shorter gearing would provide much needed torque coming out of the corners (I already have experience running much shorter tires on my civic and the difference in acceleration was shocking).
Could I find 13" rims that would clear the breaks on the gsr? I don't know, but worst case, I'd get them custom made.
My only concern would be that the gearing ends up being too short and I need to shift to 3rd too much. Assuming that at 8000rpm in 2nd gear the car reaches 60mph with stock 23.2" diameter tires, my math tells me that with Hoosier 225/45/13's (20.6" diameter) the speed at 8000rpm would be 53.28mph, which is not good. And with the slightly taller 225/50/13's (21.7" diameter) it would be 56.12mph. However, I am hoping that either Kumho or Hoosier come out with a 235 or even a 245 in either 13" or 14".
So that's my story.
