Default '90 teg LS Manual Conversion; Help! :(

Hey there... okay here goes:

I just bought myself a nice little 1990 Integra LS.

I'm going to be converting it from automatic to manual. I already have most things that I'm going to need I think, (LS Cable Tranny, Competition Clutch Flywheel, 6-Puck Clutch Masters Clutch, Petal set, Shift Linkage, Shifter, Tranny mounts, and a clutch cable)...

The problem that I'm having is that my boyfriend is going to be doing the conversion for me, however he runs a performance shop and has way too many paying customers cars to work on to be able to get to my car anytime soon... so I wanted to try to do as much of the work myself, as I could. Anyone have any suggestions of what I can do (being a girl and all) as much as I can to create less work for him? And any suggestions can you tell me exactly what to do, kinda like a step by step thing?

Oh, and don't underestimate me hahaha, I've been a car girl for a few years now, goin' to street races, working on cars, changing my own oil, putting on my own intake, .... I even removed my valve cover already and repainted it, replaced the gasket and all that good stuff... so... don't go easy on me like I'm some "AH, I BROKE A NAIL" chick!

Thanks,
Hookerracing

replacing a valve cover gasket is one thing.. thats easy.. completly converting an auto to manual is another.. use the search feature and search for auto to manual conversion.. i found a lot of topics on this and people have listed everything you need.

Go look at manuals and see if you need to weld on a clutch pedal bracket, then check to see if you need to drill out the firewall for the master cylinder, If so Id start there, Once you get everything prepped then swapping out the trannys isnt too hard.

Also Find a tranny to swap in before you waste your time with prep, Goto a scrap yard and get manual pedals for your clutch and new brake pedal Im sure if you put effort and get parts your BF may chime in and do the work.

What about: ECU, Guage Cluster, Master and Slave Cylinder, Bushings, Center Console, New Axles(manual), Intermediate Shaft, Might even need like a Hasport Auto To Manual Conversion piece for the Mounts. ...and im sure there's more.

And shhhyt, while your buying parts, why dont you remove that open differential and get a Limited Slip Differential. NOW, would be the time to do that. I mean if your using the 6 puck and a lightened flywheel, why not. It's Closure, seriously.

ive done the swap and if the cars gonna stay at one place where all the works done you could put the nw pedals in....all the hole bolt in exept one without modifications, you could hit a junk yard and get the maual intermediate shaft , you can also use the auto axles. thens not much you could do until you take the tranny out...i have to go right know but ill post a wireing write -up and what parts with pics i used to shim the passenger-side mount.....gl....enjoy the stick

The trans is all on and all that good stuff, now what about wirinig? There's problems with the dash thinking its in s4 sometimes or park, etc... I'm going to get a manual ecu too. But what do i do with all the sensors from the automatic trans? I can't get the car to turn over and start... something with the gear selection from the auto to manual... what can I do with the wiring for the plug that went to the automatic shifter?

you can run the car with the auto one, ive been doing that o my car since i swaped trannies and that was a year ago.

ok you need to wire the two large black wires together, the green/white wire to the black one, and it should start up....as for the reverse lights you need to wire the reverse light switch to the green/black wire (there are 2 and one is a dead wire so you need to find the live one) to the yellow wire. hope that helped

I donno, I'll see what he says... We just want to get the car started so we'll do what you said with those wires and go from there. Cross your fingers with me! haha

He told me that some of the wires were spliced up and the yellow wire that was spliced on the auto shifter... it was ran hard-wired, back to the fuel pump. He tested continuity with the spiced yellow wire and there is continuity and its the same wire. With the key in the on position and that yellow wire connected to the same yellow wire, the fuel pump turns on and stays on. With the factory wiring hooked up, it does nothing. GRRRRRRR!!! Also do you know why the main black and white stirped wired on the ignition harness... would be tapped into with a relay with a diode wired into it? And an orange wire comming off of that same spot, running back towards the rear taillight. How can he eliminate this shiznit?

OH YEAH! hahaha your avatar pic was funny!

Gotcha... well... thanks to your advice and help... the car is cranking... but not running just yet... It is more than likely just outta gas... cause now that my boyfriend mentioned it... i remember when it WAS running... that the gas gauge was on E. The gas light is on now...

We've gotta do something about the trans mount because the motor is sitting too high. The big black triangular shaped rear mount that mounts from the rear cross member to the transmission and engine... is there a difference between auto and manual? And is there a drivers side mount difference?

Oh and by the way... i really appreciate your help with all of this! Pretty cool that you have done this before!

Hey! Project TeG! Long time, no talk!

Well, since your last helpful post... the Teg is finally on the road as of a few months ago. But we're having problems w/ the motor mount - driver side. Now where u mentioned something about Hasport Kit or something about 1-inch...

... James came across 3 - 1" spacers that he never really knew what they were for, but decided to keep them if he were to ever need them one day.

Are these mysterious spacers that he has, what you're talking about using to correct the displacement of the mount?
