Default 70mm throttle body on a gsr manifold PROBLEM

Ok so I got BWR 70mm throttle body today as payment for fixing my friend's ls swapped eg coupe.

now I have plans to swap my gsr head in favor of a b16 head but I want to see how the car will run with the 70 mm throttle body on the gsr manifold. the problem I am having is there are no provisions on the bwr for the gsr throttle cable bracket. my question to you guys is has anyone every figured out a way to run the throttle cable on a gsr backwards, or should I drill and tap for the throttle cable bracket. and input would be great I am not in any major rush to do this but I would love to have it on by this weekend.

Also I will be running this on a modified gsr manifold. the butterflies are being removed and the entire manifold is going to be heavily modified just to see if I can possibly get it to flow any better for the time being.

this is simply for fun and the head swap will probably be done in a month or so. so if it makes power great if not whatever lol.

thanks in advance.

I recently installed a type R manifold in my GSR. The cables are different length, but the R cable fits the pedal just fine. Since you're going that route (non-GSR intake) soon anyway, pick up the cable and tap the intake. I suppose you could use either cable as long as you position the mounting bracket in the right spot so that the adjuster functions correctly.

I'd picked up a GSR bracket and don't see a good way to make it work on a non-GSR throttle body.

Let us know how it goes!

Good luck

So I emailed black works and they haven't gotten back to me. this is really bothering me now cause I drive the car everyday and I can't find time to remove the manifold to test anything. Hopefully I can figure it out soon.

any other ideas would be great

so your running a gsr intake manifold with a ls/itr style rotor, why not just switch the rotor from the gsr throttlebody to the 70mm throttle body and be done with it

I wouldn't expect to see any gains unless you're portmatched, and you have a built engine.

Faster throttle response is all you'll get. You might even lose power.

Does yours look like this? Then use the rotor that the cable goes around from the gsr and if you look closely at the two bolt holes to the left of the rotor. This is where the gsr throttle bracket goes. If yours looks like this one then no need to drill and tap the IM to install a bracket.

ok I am not worried about gains right know and I have a black works racing throttle body with the multi-position rotor. the problem that I said I am having is there is no way to mount the throttle cable bracket from the gsr throttle body to the bwr one. I know what I have to do in order to make the intake manifold worth while. I just wanted to see if anyone has used this throttle body on a gsr before.

I am not trying to be dick here but you guys need to read the original post again. this is not anything new to me and I just didnt want to just start drilling holes into my brandnew tb.

but thanks for the responses either way.

The point I'm trying to make is to not use it on your GSR manifold. If you're going to swap for a B16 head anyway, why do any changes to your GSR manifold? GSR manifold won't fit on your B16 head anyway. I don't see the point of doing mods to your GSR manifold and using a B series TB if you say you're getting a B16 head.

You might want to try running an ITR throttle cable, nonetheless.

i would just fab the itr bracket on the gsr manifold so you can use the itr throtle cable with that tb. but its a waist of time and power to use that! thats ridiculas to use that if your no f.i or a built motor.
