Hmm, im assuming you know, but are you saying you would use a stock block for the sc setup? is that safe? The supercharger would give you good low-mid range, and lotsa torque . The turbo would give you more top-end oomph.

yea, you can run a sc setup on a stock motor. But make sure to get it tuned before romping on it!! You can also do the same with turbo. The drag kit on a stock 2000 gsr supposidly makes around 270 - 280 with completely stock motor. If you turbo I'd suggest a 2mm head gasket to lower the compression to around 9 something to 1. Both are very reliable when tuned properly but (even though I went turbo) sc will probably be more reliable over time.

so you think i can hit my goal of 300hp with the sc setup? id go turbo...but i want to be different..i just want power on tap with minimum lag...i know the vortech kit utilizes a centrifugal blower, so you get "supercharger lag" if you will...haha
but with head work, i think 300 whp is very attainable tuned, the sc setup will be tuned before even driven so no worries, i just need 300 to the wheels, thats what im looking for

not too many people have vortech superchargers for a reason, they don't perform as well as Jr's or turbos.
SCC had an older article with a vortech sc'd gsr and all it was--was a dyno queen while posting a 1/4 mile time 14.9

i was thinking about going sc too... well some time in the future of course but i heard it really screws up your car if your a daily driver. dont get me wrong, turb will do the same but i heard going turb would be more reliable. give me some input on that.

Re: (picman)
That's how he got sponsored.
Also, you will be 'sponsored' for IDRC, NHRA, NOPI, etc drag events and car shows, so unless you are just doing the car show side, you will definitely need to be able to run the 1/4 mile. They don't sponsor people to streetrace from a 45 mph roll.

you all should really make sure you know what your talking about before you open your mouth. the 80 dollar fee is for the contract, vinyls, and is actually 100% tax deductible because it goes to a street racing victim charity. second, i get up to 55% off whatever i want, so instead of hating and saying its not a real sponsorship, its a sponsorship, in co-op form. co-op being co-opprotunity, both parites benefit. instead of sayign "its not real" well, all i know is its very real that im getting a nice hefty discount on whatever i want or need, so as you all say "bump"

Well if you are so smart and almighty then you dont need our help. Call your sponsor and ask them for advice on how you can achieve your power goals.

is anyone else reading this??
this kinda stuff is what made me wanna get out of this scene. I love automobiles but this kinda attitude and irrisponsibility is what give enthuesists a poor and inaccrate representation. We all know LEGAL racing, reguardless of what venue, weather it be track days, drag events or race series, can be dangerous. And to opperate a vehicle in this manner on public roads not only indangering yourself but the lives of others is really poor judgement. I work in the business as im sure some of us do here. And we see this type of representation all too often from some car owners.
Guys come on, i know we love our cars. None of us would be here if we didnt. Why do we build HP....to go faster of course. But lets please remember, to keep it safe. Its bad enough we cant drive down the street to work, out on a date, or even to the store without getting profiled by lawenforcement not based on the color of our skin, or the music we listen to, but rather by the simple fact that we drive modified cars. This is a horrible stereo type that we will never heal with the attitude of "put it down on the street"
lets set a good example.

oh yeah tearing down the motor has its own positive side....
in your case not tearing downt he motor has its own down side..
it sounds like you are upgrade S-charger with some bolts on...watever you listed im sure you will need more...stock S-charger pushing 300whp aint going too fine...and that 300whp is a lot...so your dream is pretty huge beside 500whp youre talkinga about...
don't forget about piston's compression ratio...should you lower it..+.fuel injectors..for long run w/out have worries? some new rods would recommend...
since you got load of cash..im sure you can do it easily...but buttom line is you should tearing down ur motor for long run....
im sure you're missing out alot of information here...you should do one by one...i mean research information one by one, not upgrade ustff one by one....so you will get more details informations
go to forced induction forum...they got lot of help
