2000 Integra GSR - Build Thread
First off, I want to say that this is a fantastic forum! Very helpful and informative! It also makes me spend too much money, but I guess thats my problem, HA!
I picked up this 2000 Integra DC2 GSR a few weeks ago and am excited to start a little build up thread. It will be a great way for me to document the progress of the car and let you all see what is going on!
The first things that are on the list to do is to de-rice the car - stock front turns and stock rear taillights will need to find their way back onto the car, the tint has got to go, and that Greddy Exhaust needs to be taken off as well.
Plans with the car include:
Coilover suspension (Neuspeed/Bilstein set up - ORDERED)
Brakes (Brembo blank rotors and Hawk HPS pads - ORDERED)
Blackworks Racing Rear LCA's (Blue in color - ORDERED)
Lugs (Silver Muteki sr48's - ORDERED)
Enkei RPF1's in 15x7 et 35 with Nitto Neo Gen's (ORDERED)
Skunk2 Shift **** (ORDERED)
I still don't know what to do with the exhaust, but I'll see whats up!
I'm also going to eventually be deleting the ABS and A/C, but we'll see.
First up for maintenance includes a new valve cover gasket, timing belt, water pump & tensioner.
I've owned one 1994 Integra RS before but kept it stock and I only drove it for a few months (did nothing to it), and I had a B16a2 in an EJ1 however it was side swiped and I didn't get to enjoy it long. So this will basicly be the first Honda I'll be getting my hands dirty with. I'm from the VW world and have owned quite a few VR6 Turbo cars, but they just don't handle
Wish me all the best!
Onto some pictures:

I'd leave the Greddy evo on it's a good exhaust, if you don't like the big tip weld on a vibrant stealth(or other discreat muffler). I would also leave the ABS it de-values the car more then you'd think P/S,A/C are one thing but that my .02. Other than the tails looks good GL

What shift **** is on it now and do you want to sell it?
Also why delete abs? And if you want a quieter exhaust get an Alexi ws2. The tips isn't over sized and the sound is nice and mellow

The A/C needs a re-charge and up here in Vancouver BC Canada I might use the A/C 5 times a year.
I understand the purpose behind ABS and the safety, however I do want shave the engine bay and that is one of the things that needs to go (among other things).
The Shift **** is a weighted "carbon look" s2000 rep - its all scratched up, the numbers are half gone on the top, and the little allen bolts that hold it on are all missing - I threw it in the garbage.
I've looked into the Apexi WS2, but my good friend is a tig welder by trade and built all my turbo systems, so he'll most likely be chopping off the muffler and welding up a nice quiet high flow muffler. I haven't decided what to get yet!

don't get rid of the ABS it's a value kill and makes the car look hacked up. 98% of the time when the abs is gone the car is a pile of ****. when you eventually sell this it will bite you
you already made a few bad choices with parts, don't add to more. the koni/gc setup is a better value, hps pads absolutely suck. they fall off fast with heat and have a short life. the hp+ is much better and or the axxis ult and or the stoptech streets. tires, the neo gen is okay for straight line dry traction but will get it's *** handed to it by the new breed of performance tires like the re11 and ad08
greddy makes a wonderful catback. if you have one, leave it alone. they will go 100k+ miles with no trouble.
find a theme with the car. all kinds of people do ebay bolt on parts. see if you can find a vintage HKS air cleaner, parts from apexi, toda, spoon, mugen etc. very VERY few people do these cars right anymore and the ones that are done properly really stand out
that's a clean looking car, don't kill it with junk.

Re: 2000 Integra GSR - Build Thread
This seems like a very mild street car build. Idk if shaving the bay and getting rid of ABS and AC is going to make the car as awesome as you think. You're gonna go to a Vancouver car show with a salted up GSR on lowering springs and no accesories. Depressing.
Please don't take that as hate. Just an opinion that the car would have no identity. Most rad builds are fairly single-minded. I think you're cramming too many different "styles" and going with the worst of all worlds. I'm gonna guess you don't care about this opinion as it's your car (and you shouldn't care)....but as a piece of friendly advice...don't just throw random parts and mods at a car. I see GSRs on craigslist all day with the same attention deficit style builds that are mostly incomplete because the owner completely lost their minds halfway through it and decided to get rid of it.
Just sayin. Good luck with the build either way, broseidon. There are some decent parts up there. Mad respekt for not getting Rotas or Drags in some dumbass offset.

So I will want to shave the engine bay in the future, so the ABS will go. No, it will not looked hacked up because I'll pull the harness, unwrap/de-pin it from the wiring, install all OEM brake lines and a 40/40 valve from an RS/GS so it will look 100% OEM. NOT HACKED UP!
Second, I got the Bilstein Coilovers kit with Neuspeed springs at cost for $500 new, and don't even start to tell me that bilstein doesn't make some of the best shocks on the market. I have them in my current ride and I love them. People seem to favor the koni/GC set up, but for that price new I couldn't pass them up!
I have also used the HPS pads in the past and my golf currently uses them. I'm an easy driver, this car will see almost no track time, just the occasional spirited drive. Thanks though!
As for the tires, I got them from a good friend who used them for 2000 kms and paid $60/tire. So why should I let them go to waste? The car will never see the track, so don't assume, thanks.
I HATE fart cans and I HATE the polished muffler. That will have to go so deal with it!
I'm not a bandwagon vehicle modder as some people seem to be, I HATE ebay crap and I believe in parts I have used in the past/currently use and I trust names and brands that have a long standing reputation.
Oh, and this is my 2nd car that will be driven from June-Sept as long as I'm not on my motorcycle.

Thanks! Like I said, this is one of my first Honda builds, but I don't understand the hate as I'm not some 16 year old kid that is new to the car modding world, just new to this brand.
I'm NOT AT ALL into accessories, I could care less if I had a particular oil cap, carbon fibre spark plug cover.
Here is my old MK2 VR6 turbo - the same attention to detail will go into this build:

i actually like the turn signals that are currently on it. most of the time those look terrible on a car, but they seem to fit the color quite well. tails are garbage tho

yes, tails are NASTY!

Re: 2000 Integra GSR - Build Thread
I might want to trade the entire front and rear seats for cloth gsr or type r seats, but I'm not sure yet. I don't really care for leather.

Re: 2000 Integra GSR - Build Thread
Agreed! It is UGLY! However, I was just reading about Hondata's new traction control system that utilizes ABS sensors for traction and I'm thinking that this might be a good way to go if I turbo it.
Either way, I've done a few things to the car but nothing to brag about (still finishing off another VW golf as my daily driver) and once that is done I'll be diving into the Integra.
Took off the NASTY tint, replaced the front signals with the stock amber ones, and installed the skunk2 shift ****.
I also purchased a stock exhaust system that will go back on. If I ever want to go turbo, i'll run a 3" downpipe, to a 3" boost actuated dump valve in place of the cat-converter. Stock and quiet for driving around normally!
So, the Greddy Evo2 Cat-back will be for sale locally (sorry, not shipping this for those who were interested).
Also, my antenna motor makes noise, but doesn't retract - are there any good antenna alternatives? I hate the long antenna - looks terrible!

Re: 2000 Integra GSR - Build Thread
dealing with removing abs, ps, and ac. my car has abs but its not hooked up from the previous owner and harness is removed or the harness used for the swap didnt have abs. that said its a lot harder to remove the abs unit, im sure people here can go into detail but you got to swap brake parts from a non abs car into your abs car. and from my short research it seemed not worth it. I DONT have ps or ac either. ps i/u can deal without, its really not that noticeable. and with ac... i WISH my car still had it. when youre stuck in traffic on the highway and its a billion degrees youll miss it.. just like me haha.. just me 2cents!
Nice build start man! GL

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it!
I don't believe any of this is difficult as I've tackled much larger projects, but I can see how removing something and then missing it can happen
