Default Eagle rods machined for GSR bearings to be put on a LS crank?

A guy offered me some Eagle H-beam rods today for a fair price but I'm wondering if these will work for me or not. He said they were machined to fit GSR rod bearings but were used on a LS crank. I thought the crank from a GSR and LS were different sizes? They look like they are in good condition, have ARP rod bolts and only have 150 miles on them.

Should I get these for my LS build?

if im understanding u correctly then i would answer yes if its a great deal. basically he resized/modify the eagle rods for ls to fit the better bearing from gsr. gsr bearings are narrow and the ls rods a thick , so it would be shaven down to proper fitment. its almost the same when i would do a budget build on stock ls rods , shot peen resized rods for gsr bearings. same concept. as far as the arp bolts are they the larger vtec ones or the standard ls ones? either way arp is a good choice to go with. may i ask how much he offered them to u?

$200 for the ones he offered me. The cheapest new ones I could find were $410.

The ARP bolts look larger than the 8mm bolts on OEM LS rods. I'm guessing they have the 3/8 ARP bolts that come on new Eagle rods

then its the 3/8 large bolts ls rods then either that or its the arp 2000. either way 200 is cheap.

yeah the cranks are different it would actually benefit you to buy and ls crank it has an 89 mm stroke which is only a little different than the gsr but larger. the only think i'm not sure about and you should check with is the rod journal size if run a gsr crank. you may have to run oversize bearings if the gsr crank is smaller in diameter which i think is is. make absolutely sure to buy an arp rod bolt kit though they are fifty bucks shipped off of ebay and the peace of mind that they are about 5 times more reliable than stock is excellent. then boost the **** out and run it to 8,500 like its nothing.

The actual crankshaft journal size is the same. The difference is the width of the bearing and they are typically coated. A machine shop will put a new set of "tangs" on the big end of the rod. This will center the GSR bearing in the LS rod. This is done quite frequently due to less rotating friction since the bearing is narrower.

Cool thing is, if the rods were just re tanged, you can use either LS or GSR bearings if you wish as there will be 2 sets of tangs instead of one now.
