Why I Hate Tuner Magazines
HondaTuning published this Dyno test comparing 4-1 and 4-2-1 headers on a stock B16A.
Wait -- WHAT?
A stock B16A1 doesn't make 195 hp. Even a fully built NA B16 only makes mid-200's, so that motor had substantial upgrades that severely compromised those results.
Headers - as well as all modifications - should be selected and tuned based on your current or projected engine setup BY A PROFESSIONAL who spent years of his/her life properly educating themselves to provide the best specialized service available.
This is why I abhor tuner magazines. They constantly shell out false reports & generalize tuning just to sell literature. Then, dropouts reading this crap think they can cut corners and build a motor themselves with NO experience, and intentionally race on the street illegally to avoid getting spanked at the track. WTF?
Newsflash -- RACING IS EXPENSIVE. Don't do it if you're poor and uneducated, because you're going to lose anyway. If you have a passion for engines, then take the time to properly educate yourself - Tuner magazines are NOT proper education, they're for entertainment only.
And please don't endanger others on the road.
Sorry for ranting, I just think it's important to keep a responsible image in the import culture.

I occasionally read Magazines for entertainment, but it's just that. Entertainment. Most of the content is somebody's biased opinion, or persuasive article on why you should buy their sponsors products.
Form your own opinion on these things by researching. There's never a definitive setup in this industry.

I have a masters degree and I still modify my integra. Also, I don't need a professional to pick out a header for me. This thread doesn't make any sense. Not everyone who puts an I/H/E on their civic wants to be a racer or street race illegally. For most people, modding cars is just a hobby, you don't need to be an expert to get into it.
I like Honda Tuning, although you can just jump on H-T for free and get better info, so I don't see why people still pay for tuner mags. Also, you can gt all the articles for free on their own websites.

TallKyle, I swiped this information from another forum that was basing their modifications on information from tuning magazines - which are a bunch of journalists, not tuners. That's like taking legal advice from a jury. I posted this issue so others don't make the same mistakes.
So... why did you read this thread anyway? The title basically sums up the entire range of topic; if you didn't want to read it, there's a million other threads on the list you could choose from. You didn't have to be rude.

and more proof on why comparing dynos is a waste of time. 1/4 mile mph is a better gauge if air temp and elevation are noted. dynos have a use as a tuning tool, not a ***** extension.
