You can use Aircraft paint remover to take off the paint, it's safe on glass.
It isn't worth painting the lights, I painted mine and it's already starting to chip even with four coats of clear.

Not to steal your post or anything but i plan on doing this but i want mine amber but i was wondering how long the paint will last on the lenses or can i just buy amber lenses? Also what did you use to cut out the area for the fog lights?
