strapped slicks on..and dropped exhaust.it blew on the burnout. not even 6000 rpm. and i haven't seen it yet..friend who pulled the head said 2 valves melted to the top of piston. so way lean

we tried intake/exhaust

+1/0
+2/0
+2/-1
+2/-2
+2/+1
+2/+2

final power was best at +2 intake +2 exhaust

Was a burnout really necessary with slicks and only 197 hp?

yeah no matter the HP a slick depending on compound is designed to work in a sertain heat range, just as your street tires are.....(on them look for the temperature rating)

oh yeah, motors always run the best right before they blow up bro.....

to me it looks as if you could have richened it up all the way across the board and been alot safer. i usually keep mine in the 12.5 range just for ***** and giggles

once again. there is no port. no polish. no milling/shaving of the head. head casting/characteristics is stock.

sorry i guess.

Then the head casting is stock. Thats like if i put some crazy *** wiseco 14:1 compression pistons in my block and said "stock block" all it has is pistons, rods and scat crank. Sorry.

I never would have thought a 13.8:1 a/f is too lean. I guess maybe real life load had an affect on the engine. Anybody's thoughts on that?

According to that dyno, that engine was not running lean.. It was running about right where I would tune an NA engine, 13.5:1.

that's what he said, the head is stock. The valvetrain isn't though. Just cause valvetrain isn't stock doesn't mean the head isn't it. i guess it's in the interpretation. To me his setup is stock head but not valvetrain. And "crazy *** wiseco 14:1 compressions" pistons you can still say stock block if it's not sleeved. The block hasn't changed at all. Now if you said stock bottom end but had forged pistons, that's incorrect. Stock bottom end and stock block are 2 different things.

just MHO.

I guess you can parse words down to the letter, so to speak, i just think the thread title was a little misleading when i see a gsr with stock block/head pushing 200whp i know somethings up.

if the valvetrain was stock, would you consider the head stock even if it had cams?

yeah, head is still stock. i consider the cams a part of the valvetrain. they actuate the valves. maybe i'm wrong on that one but oh well. as long as it's not ported, stock head. Stock top end is a different thing though.
