ITR 1997 #122 Went for a spin on the Dyno Jet today....pics and full story inside. ((56K...Upgrade t
Hello everyone out there in the ITR world. Today at around 4:00pm, I swung into Turbo Techniques in Tacoma, Washington and did three pulls with the ITR to get a baseline before I started moding her.
Before this took place, I was at an Acura dealership in Fife getting some misc. parts to put the rear interior side pieces back together. Luck would have it that when I was pulling out of the dealership I see a guy in a white ITR pull into a gas station near by. His name is Tony and he's rocking a 98' with no wing. It's pretty clean.
Anyways here are pictures and video of the Type R all strapped up and ready to go. The baseline HP is not what I was expecting. I was expecting it to be about 10 to 12 hp more than what I got. The reasons I feel it is lower than normal is that: 1) The stock intake system was replaced by an Ingen intake before I or Len had purchased the car. 2) Len didn't have an extra Type R exhaust so he put on something that we don't know what it is. Len called it a "Universal Exhaust". 3) The factory header was replaced with a JDM unit. 4) I had been driving the car all day long with not time to cool down.
Fortunately, since the whole drive train has less than 4,000 miles on it, I pulled consistant numbers which I'm very pleased about. What do you all think?
I'm currently dealing with trying to get the video edited and converted from quicktime to something more PC friendly. Stay tuned.
Strapped down and ready to go....

The rubber on the ground is from me....kidding. They had a twin turbo Grand National in there just before me.

With out further adue....the results....

That is how I purchased the car. I would ask the original owner. The whole thing needs to be resprayed which will happen in a couple weeks. You should see the driver side door. Len and I had to replace it with a NBP ITR door. So I'm driving around with a black door.
i would drive that with a black door

all you need is a PY trunk and your other door to be a FBP door.
Looks good, I wouldn't worry about the numbers, remember every dyno is different and you can't really use them as a measuring stick. Also I would think your motor would develop more power as it gets more mileage, when it loosens up a bit.
I'd rock the car the way it is plus a lip
Can't wait to see it all fixed up though

I'd like to make you an offer on that Mugen Wing.
I have a spare CW ITR stock wing as a partial trade if you're interested.
IM me or e-mail zygspeed@comcast.net
Thanks, Ed
Oh, btw ... my 97 has a similarly low baseline on the dynojet at about 163 whp.
A DC 4-1, exhaust and an intake brought it up to about 178 whp on the same dyno.
