What does CX mean?
CX = most basic model of a civic, it doesn't even come with a radio, or a mirror or even any other add ons such as cigarette lighter....very light cheap, pack whole 70hp on that d15b (Comfortable and eXtreme vehicle)
VX = very basic, but for economy reasons, it gets excellent gas milage, no real improvement, but a little better equipped, weight is kept down with use of different lighter parts (Very eXtreme vehicle)
DX = model for everyone, most popular features, good power 102hp, lots of options (Daily eXtreme vehicle)
Si = ricers heaven, packs 125hp, few electronic gadgets, lots of usless options and many times driven by badass punks...heavy but quickest of the bunch.... (sport Injected vehicle)
DX and EX came as well on the Coupe (dx=dx, but EX=Si, as far as other things)
sedan are similiar

The "C" in "CX" definitely means "Cheap." My pops bought our 1993 CX hatch for $9K brand spanking new with 12 miles on the odo. It "DID NOT" have the following:
A. Power windows, doors, mirrors, steering.
B. A/C
C. Mirror on passenger side.

I just sold my 1992 Si Hatch and bought a 1992 CX because:
It is 200+lbs. lighter
NO sunroof - good for road racing - sunroofs have to be removed and metal plates rivited in
SLEEPER as hell
Plus my Si had some rattles (sunroof shade and mystery rattles abound)
The Si had some frame tweaks
Si leaked on passenger floorboard.
The Cx also is the cheapest, has the cheapest insurance, and when a motor is swapped in it is bad-***. Same goes for the VX. VX comes with a tach too though...
My 1992 CX came with VINYL interior. Very funny ****...
After my B18C5 is dropped in and the paint is dry I can't wait to see someone call my CX cheap.
