Idea For The Holidays...
I posted this also on Mustangworld.com, a site I post on a lot being a former Mustang owner...
I was thinking for the holidays that Honda-tech members could do something good....I was reading all the mod lists and everything like that and realized that the majority of us can afford to give like $20 to a fund that we could use to sponser a poor family for Christmas presents or maybe a hospital or something like that..
I was thinking that if the admin here or someone who was trusted by all like Yoshi or someone else to set up a Paypal account we could get together a fund and donate it to someone who could really use it.
We could combine the money we got with Mustangworld or do a separate thing...

how about New York fund? find a legit one where 100% goes to the families affected...
no amount of money will make up for what was lost there...but it can help

The whole reason I even thought about it is because for me personally I see all the poor on TV and on the streets but no one that I know on a personal level until today..
My brother's friend Louis called and just talked to my brother (whos 14) and Ryan (my brother) asked him how he was. He told him he was staying with a friend because his mom lost her job and is homeless...the thing that makes this real sad is because Louis is blind and has a great view on life. I just felt really bad about his situation...I know that this Christmas he isn't going to have much, other than what the family he is staying with can afford to give him...
Wherever we donated the money to would make a difference

how about we contact like salvation army or toys for tots, and do like the Harley guys do and have a meet and hand out season cheer(toys,food,etc...)to the unfortunate. like in downtown los angeles...
Sounds good to me
If the So Cal people want to I'm sure one day this month we could go hand out toys or something like that. We could post pictures for everyone else to see where there money is going to
Who is the admin or mod here in So Cal who everyone trusts to setup an account or an address?

I would be willing to do a toy hand out for kids. The question is, will the event be a single location or will we do this in several locations.
If people in the bay area are interested, I can contact local charities for some help organizing or joining an event.
P.S. There has been so much bad publicity about modified imports, maybe we can get some exposure doing good deeds. Just my $.02

That definitely is a great idea. We actually at my work adopted a few kids (decided to take care of their needs/wants) and there are 2 female children one being 4 and the other 12 and an elderly lady. They all have requests such as pants/toys/jackets/shoes and lastly the four year old girl had a request to learn English. I'm proud to say that the day this was announced, the same day I went out and bought some slippers to help out the needy. Those little things sure make you feel good especially when you know that that $10 or so means a lot more to them than you.
BTW, the fund was through Salvation Army.

Jeff:
I'll go open up a separte charity account at paypal. As long as no one uses their credit card through paypal, the account will be able to accept any amount of money. Account info will be posted here later today.
yoshi - who thinks Jeff's idea is a great one!!!!

Just so that people don't think I'm going to pocket any charity funds, I will post all full names of donors here and at the http://www.socalitr.com site.
To start the fund, I am donating 2 copies of VTEC Sports #3 to the Honda-Tech ITR Forum Holiday Charity Fund. They are $25 shipped each, so that makes it $50 into the fund already. So whose going to buy them?
Thanks to these people so far:
- VTEC Sports buyer #1 - Mike @ IPS
- VTEC Sports buyer #2 - ???

I've posted this on MustangWorld so I'll see how much we can get together. I figure $500 total from 2 sites should be manageable, possibly even $1000.

Let us know more about the charity when it is chosen...
Edit-> Mods: can we put info about this in a thread that stays at the top of the page (like the stickers link)?
