Default MAX_CFM / RLZ / Brad ?????? Small cautionary note.

Let me preface this post by saying that I am not calling Brad a thief or scammer.

The facts:
Contacted Brad in January 2004 about doing a cylinder head for me. Brad convinced me that he could do something special for me. Great! Sent the head to him 2/11/2004 was told it would be a couple of months. No problem. Contacted Brad 4/28/2004 asking for an ETA. " MAX_CFM: yea that one will ship soon ". Cool. Three months later and no word. Contacted Brad 7/27/2004-" MAX_CFM: Sorry I feel like an *** for taking so long " .

O.K.- my response "What do I owe you, how do you want me to pay, and when can it be done? Thanks. "

Nothing from Brad since. I don't make a habit of posting negative things about bad experiences that I have had. I just choose not to do business with those businesses any more. I am used to machine shops and other businesses lagging and failing to live up to promises, but this is kind of extreme. I have heard nothing but good things about Brad's work.

I just want my head back at this point ; I don't expect to recoup even my shipping expenses. I have been more than patient about this situation, but my patience has it's limits.

This is just an advisory post so that my fellow H-T members will not find themselves in the same predicament.

Brad, if you read this, please just return my head. You have the address. Thanks.

From what I have seen and heard from other of Brad's customers, he is a very busy man, and refuses to half-*** any job that he takes on. I'm sure your head will be done soon and the quality of the work will be A+. I know I would rather wait for Brad to finish my head than send it to a "one week turnaround" chop shop!

Downtime sucks when you want something done right and well.

I know Brad works like 15 hours a day and is still behind on heads.

He takes the extra time to help the customer out. I know this has been the case for me. I waited a long time for a head, but it was well worth it.

I am not gonna go into detail here but I have been dealing with brad for over a year and he has helped me out thru everything, the good and bad.

B19- From what Brad told me, your head was gonna be pretty kickass.

Ill have to send my head to Brad when i get a race motor ready.

Talked to Brad right around the time RLZ came into play, back in mid 03 about some work. Highly recommend them from the work i have seen done so far!

yes i too know that brad is very good at what he does, and that he is very busy, and works long hours, many other shops have more than one head porter and have faster turn around, but i can guarantee it will be worth it when you get it, so for brad

No slander. Stating facts. The head was not ready when promised. Brad responded quickly to this post. When I have my head back, I will post that just as quickly. And graphs when the motor hits the dyno.

A half of year is a long time for a ported head I would ask for a discount or somthing.

yes brad has some crazy turn around times because he has madd work to do... and when you hav an unpredictable amt of work it is hard to give a good estimate. brad works his *** off. i will get any and all of my machine work done by him and all my business with him and anyone from spped inovations/ RLZ has been nothing but a pleasure. if you want your work to be done right it takes time. brads work is amazing and the highest of quality. i have talked to brad at midnight and later and he is still at the shop working on otherpeoples stuff so his turnaround times are deffinately not related to his lact of work. brad is the man....i dont care what anyone else says...haha... hopefully this can be resolved and when you get your **** you will be nothing but pleased...

b19coupe,

i know your pain. i too sent a head to brad in 12/14/03, but the head is now in transit to ship to me by 9/16/04 (it was done 2 months ago but shipped to an invalid address)... hopefully all this wait is worth giving up my alaniz head to a customer of mine that originally sent for rlz head...

so dyno will be up comparing my alaniz head and rlz head... but the turn around does really really suck.

i am not slandering brad in any way just commenting on my head.

I know it is tough to have to wait, but when you make the first dyno pull on your engine with his cyl. head, you will forget your frustation when you look at your powerband. Brad's cylinder heads are the finest money can buy and your car WILL accelerate down the track faster, not just make some crazy peak hp number to brag about. It will be worth the wait.....

Its like getting a header from Hytech or SMSP, good stuff but long wait. Same thing with him, especially when he's out going for the fastest street Honda at NDRA, traveling takes alot of time.

don;t jump the gun, brad and the guys at RLZ won't try to rip you off, may be slow at getting things done (believe me I'm the same way and its not one of my best qualities either) ... but personally dealt with brad and he's a very honest guy, i highly doubt any funny stuff goning on there.

hang in there or just settle it up with him, he's a real good guy.

You say a week? This has went on for over 6 months. I would be ready for my head too. I sure hope it is worth it, I have only heard good things about their performance.

I said it takes a week to do.It's not like Brad's sitting in the office waiting for ypur head to show to do some work, theres always a line ahead of you.I don't have 1/4 the biz Brad has and I'm backed up for 1-2 months during the season.

I also shipped a head to Brad in Feb. and have not received it by now. I know he will do a super job for me. He also makes me a custom IM and stuff like that takes time. It's to bad the track season over here in Europe is almost over but I will have to wait for next year then. Good luck with the work Brad

umm. i think people are missing the point.

I would guess that b19coupe is fine with waiting (sorta) its just that brad said he would ship the head out, and well it hasnt been shipped out.

waiting or not, regardless of how bling bling his head work is, that is not the point that b19 has tried to bring up. its that brad needs to communicate to his customers regardless of how busy he is.

on a side note, im not dissing brad or rlz just trying to clear things up I guess.

If brad communicated that he is super busy and it would be a another month or whatnot not. then im guess b19 would be happier.

very very very correct

it would have helped a lot if communication was a lot more open...

communication is the key! At least he responded to you right away. That's more then most companies do these days.

i work customer service for AAA with insurance policies. i know what you mean.
BUT, you gotta understand, rlzengineering does not have a customer service department to handle these types of issues.

maybe brad lagged for whatever reasons but he is by no means no scammer.

proof? well in my experience..i shipped him out an IM...he sent pymnt after he received it.

he could have scammed me and not sent payment..but i sent the IM manifold out in good faith. i'm glad i did.

one thing you have to relize in racing is that things come un,and when you are dealing with custom things you do not always get the prodcut when you are so post to,brad from rlz is top notch if you want quality products go to him, i can veryify with our dyno figures
