JHPusa.com sells Pro Fab intake gaskets. They look very similar to the hondata gaskets. Here's the link: http://www.jhpusa.com/catalog/...d=813

I personally don't have any experience with these gaskets, but I have used the hondata gasket. The hondata gasket worked really well. It kept the intake manifold very cool for a longer period of time. It also fit very well and I didn't have to port match it at all. I had the old school one too that came with the nylon washers.

Hondata gasket... I feel that it is worth the money.

There are other companies that make similar gaskets. I believe AN-R makes one too.

yeah i was surfing though some sites and came across the Pro Fab gasket... it's alot cheaper then the hondata one, but i dunno if it' comes w/ washers etc..

AN-R only makes them for the B-series (from what i saw)

I agree, i installed one on his car and it really didn't fit right at all, the holes were really off, and it did leak after i installed it so now i get to pull the GE mani i just installed off of the car agian and put a OEM gasket on, then when the hondata gasket gets in install that one, IMO not worth the hardships for only being a few bucks cheaper

Wow i would at least think the holes would line up and it wouldnt leak. Well i already ordered and im gonna try it . I wouldnt think they would release a gasket that is useless. But i could be wrong.

"extra cash" for a Hondata? It's $60 people . . . . .

If you don't have $60 to spend on a modification, I guess you could always make one out of an old tupperware container if you wanted to save money.

thats what i was thinking...$60 isn't too bad...hell, its cheaper than a mugen shift ****, and that just sits there and looks pretty.

and the tupperware sounds like it would probably fit better than the profab

i'm sure if someone took the initiative, they could probably find a source for the material to make their gaskets.
(hint: http://www.mcmaster.com)

imo, paying $40+ for a small pre-cut piece of plastic seems kinda ridiculous.

people have spent a lot more money on stuff that will
benefit them less, it's a good investment, like it or not

Alright, so go ahead & price a slab of ultra-high-temp 3/8" thick plastic from mcmaster's. Let me know how much money you'll be saving . . . .

I have a hondata gasket for the prelude sitting on the shelf, we run them on other cars and they definately make a difference in intake manifold temperature.....one day when I'm really motivated I'll put that sucker on!

That's my whole point. You won't. Not by a long shot.

Go ahead & start browsing around the plastics that come in 12x24" sheets & can withstand 450+ degrees. Unless you're buying the stuff in bulk or find a much better source, you're never going to save money that way.

IMO, they're basically the same. I've used both brands for H and B series motors, none of them are perfect. Personally I think it depends on what production run you get..if you're lucky, you get one that lines up with the studs perfectly and doesn't overlap the intake ports....most of them don't.

BTW: If you take an OEM IM gasket and put it up to the head, it wont match up that great either.

A lot of shops like us make sure that if you do porting work and plan to run a Hondata or other IM gasket, to bring that specific gasket to do the port match.
