Installed my GSR strut bar on my GS(walkthru/pics/impressions)
GSR Strut bar in a LS/GS G3 teg.
I decided to write this article due to mass amounts of missinforatmion regarding bolt and nuts types when installing gsr strut bar in a ls/gs.
I wasted 10 bucks just because someone didn't know and decided to say that you need 13mm bolts when you
don't.
First what you need:
1-Jack
2-Philips head screw driver
3-Flat head screw driver
4-4 8mmx1.25x30mm bolts
5-4 8mmx1.25x30mm hex nuts....can't use locking nuts
6-8 washers you can stick to 8mm but what I did was use 13mm ones so there'd be more surface area to dissipate force
7-flat driveway
Step 1-Jack up your car and remove the wheel

Step 2-Partially remove the side of the plastic piece closest to the car...go up till the middle removing
different pieces. Should have about 6 that you need to reomve wtih the philips head. And 3 that you need to remove
with the flat head.

Step 3-Pull it apart and look inside to see the holes in the engine bay

Step 4-Put 2 bolts thru the holes and once u have them thru stand up still holding them. Place a washer, then strut bar,
then another washer and finally a hex nut and tighten everything up.

Step 5-Put hte plastic piece back and do the other side
And finally you can see the result

driving impressions:
bodyroll definetly much less
understeer a lil bit less
this one corner usually the car just understeers, this time it just pushed right thru chirping tires thru the corner...so for the first time in that corner tires gave out before the suspension did. Its a low speed corner. Definetly worht the 30 bucks in parts.
When I lower the car next weekend + get my tire/rim combo to replace the winter tiers the car is on driving will definetly be more enjoyable

The plastic thing is the fender liner. Good write up!

Hey njandrewg...
thanks for posting these instructions. My GSR strut bar is on the way and will be putting it on my LS. Also on the way are OE H&R's and my first digi camera to post pics on H-T!! I got my bar from a private seller on ebay for $25 shipped...It's painted gunmetal. I'm going to try to get the OE bolts for this setup though at Acura dealer...might as well go all out...

I was under the impression that you don't need to take the fenderliner and wheel off to put the strut bar on. I was able to do it without taking those off. Should take about 5min to install the bar.

You do not have to pull down the fender liner. The liner doesn't cover that part of the shock tower, just jack the car up so that the upper control arm will hang down so you can get up in there.
As for OE bolts, no point in using those unless you've got a welder, since the OE studs are welded to the underside of the shock tower.
Wow you used a bottle jack on your car, I'm surprised one of those would fit under there even at stock ride height.

yes everyone is right no need to remove the liner....when I did the install I had this ghetto *** jack taht wouldn't lift up the car that high...so looking from the bottom the wheelliner was blocking the way....so naturally I removed it...sicne then I got a floor jack and it lifts much higher and you can clearly see the holes with liner sitll in place.
