Default Effectiveness of frame sliders?

Next spring I am going to be purchasing an 04 or 05 CBR F4i, and since it will be my first bike I know I'll drop it..so do frame sliders actually protect the crank case and fairings pretty well against a tip over or a short slide? I know they don't protect the entire fairing set but how well should I expect them to work? Any brands, styles, etc that I should look at? thanks!

you'll get a lot of varied feedback but i can tell you they are a good investment and to research and get some that dont have a lot of complaints about snapping. they may/may not protect the fairing but they will minimize damage to hard parts.

it may not save the fairing completely but it sure can save you a few hundred dollars...

exmple, buddy parks his r6 on a slight hill, forgets to put it into gear. bike slowly rolls down the hill, bout 5-6ft and BANG, mid farings are cracked, peg is broken, and front brake peg broken. if he had frame sliders, dont get me wrong, but it could have save SOME of the broken stuff, which can add up if you are on a tight budget

frame sliders
good investment, plus it doenst look bad at all

imho its a good investment. iirc there are "no-cut" frame sliders that are prone to breaking.

"Frame" slider. They are meant to protect the frame in a crash, they just happen to help the fairings. Your fairings will still get rashed but they're not going to get broken and ripped out (most of the time).

Stick to sliders with plastic pucks.

you can get the extra long ones...also ones that fit on the handle bars...if it just falls over while sitting they will save it and it wont even touch the plastics....

ive had a bike with them and it'll get knocked over just sitting in a parking lot...or me standing ont he gas tank and it'll fall...they work for sure

thanks for the feedback!

i guess i overlooked the actual name 'frame' sliders..haha but i'm glad they do a small part in protecting the fairngs. (and yes i will be on a tight-ish budget)

with respect to the longer sliders and ones that go on the handlebars, do they affect the overall appearance of the bike? (i'm getting a vision of training wheels in my head)

nah they dont stick out like a sore thumb...its like 3 inches longer on the fairing ones so it dont even touch them at all

and the handle bar ones so you dont break mirrors or levers

Alright that's cool. Do you have any pics of your bike? I'll try to find some pics on google as well.
