im going to vent... then im going to build the hell out of it!!!
ok so... my lsvtec has no compression... kinda thought that (burned oil and what not)... 145 psi ACROSS THE BOARD in a motor that should have 11.6:1
added oil to the cylinder... the word **** was said many times at it tapped out the 290 psi gauge.
now... i thought a heat shield was loose... it rattled..then tonight, going down the freeway, i thought it fell off! which made me jack it up and take a look....
anyone wanna guess what the noise was? as i changed lanes in 5th, at about 4000rpm, i put her to the floor... and thats when i heard the noise...which i thought was the heat shield...
HOLY **** was i wrong. theres a hole the size of my fist in the ******* tranny. my fist people... not all the way to the case, just the motor mount on the back... there was still a PIECE of the bolt sitting up there... WTF.
im pissed, im going to bed, im going to rebuild the **** out her.

not too much, just enough to coat the walls i guess?

I'm just surprised by the huge increase in compression from the oil addition.

Yes, the increase should indicate that the rings are bad. You usually add just a few dops of oil to the cylinder. Otherwise, the oil will reduce the combustion chamber volume and raise the perceived compression. I think that exceeding the gauge limit seems a bit excessive.
