Well, most of you "regulars" here on the board know that I'm going to get the ATS final drive installed pretty soon...

I have 9500 miles on my '00 itr, which I bought last june.

I have 1 season of autox on it, one day at the strip, and 1 road course event on it...

I was driving and doing a couple of drag launches this past weekend and it seems like my clutch is slipping if I launch at 5k... Wind it out in 1st to rev limiter and shift to 2nd and the rpms drop back to 5k?! WTF? This happened three times on two different days... If I launch at 4k-4500 rpms I seem to get a good launch without clutch slippage...

Is my clutch going or what?

I was debating on whether to do a toda clutch and flywheel at the same time as the final drive... Now it seems I may not have a choice...

Now I have seen some people get their clutch replaced under warranty by acura because the clutch went south at under 15k miles... Any truth to this? Maybe I can get the work done and get my final drive in for free...

It's true guy. I just went for my first drive today on my newly dealer-warantee clutch replacement and it grabs like it did when I first bought it. It doesn't hurt to try to get it replaced under warranty.

Yeah, but what am I gonna do? Go in there and say "hey, my clutch isn't grabbing when I drop it at 5k rpms!"

They'll yell abuse sooooo quick!

True true...I guess I had it easy since my car was showing symptoms. Well, good luck on whatever you decide.

Go for the warranty, Ken. I got mine at 41k

Try this phrase... "It seems to slip and lose rpm when I'm accellerating getting on the freeway." You may have to come back if they're unwilling to diagonse it as a clutch assembly from your annecdotal information. If they "road test" it and can't reproduce your complaint, you'll just have to make a second trip, but you'll get your way. Then again, it's only a STOCK clutch that they'll replace it with.

Do you have Helms handy? There is a spec for the stall speed that will indicate clutch slippage. I have found if I come in with a photocopy of the test procedure from the factory shop manual - the dealership takes my word for it.

Who's installing your FD? You may find that the Toda clutch deal (cough! $970 cough! cough!) is a better long term option with your whopping horsepower... wait, you're still at 180-ish, right? What's your quote on the FD install? Or are you going the D method and busting some LH Threads (BTW - those are clearly marked as such in the Helms manual)?

Damn V! I saw your thread and never figured you'd get a clutch out of it! I've gotten free **** before, but that takes the cake! 41k miles! No fing way!

I guess I'll be giving TJ a call... Umm... "my clutch seems to be slipping..." lol
