My P-1 Automotive success story, or me whoring out P-1...
I just thought I would extol on the virtues of P-1 Automotive for a few paragraphs, and it seemed like I see a lot more of Jack here in the ITR forum. They did some work on my little daily driver 91 SI, and it was some top-notch work.
Let’s get things straight quickly, I’m am in no way, shape, or form on the nuts of Jack Harris, but I will say that I have an appreciation of his nice work. P-1 in general has given me the best customer service I have ever received, and I’ve been buying toys for imports better than 12 years, so I have met quite a few folks along the way.
I have a 91 Civic SI with a built B18A turbo motor that I bought from Victor Perry, and it is by far the fastest car I have ever owned, and I have P-1 to thank for that. It originally came to me with a Haltech E6K engine management, and Jack and Bob tuned on it to the best of their ability, and it became infinitely more drivable but it still had a few little kinks in it. I was attempting to replace the crank trigger sensor on it, and I’m pretty sure I cooked the Haltech, so it left from Hickory on a roll-back to Fort Mill.
I talked to Bob early the next week, and he was more concerned with getting my motor bolted back onto the mounts, because apparently earlier in the build, someone had stripped out a bolt on the driver’s side motor mount and tried repairing it with JB Weld. After some in-house machine work, the motor was bolted in and was ready for some new electronics.
Over the next few weeks Bob and Jay tried working on the Haltech to try and revive it, but it was not to be. I’m just really impressed with how well they were able to take a strong car that was built by somebody else, and with no prior knowledge still be able to troubleshoot what somebody else put together. Eventually it came down to replacing the Haltech, and I was swayed to the AEM EMS by Jack, and what a difference. There was a considerable amount of wiring to take my OBD-0 B18 and make it work with an OBD-1 AEM unit, but Jack was able to make it happen in just a matter of weeks. Once my whole passenger side floorboard was full of AEM product and well spliced together wire harness, then the fun began.
On the Mustang dyno, Jack was able to replicate the power that the Haltech was making at 14 lbs of boost with just 9 lbs and the EMS.After getting my boost controller dialed in at 14 lbs for low boost, and high boost was set at 20lbs (on pump gas
) The results were phenomenal, as Jack was able to really make the little car put down the power. I have since had to format my computer, so maybe Jack might help me with my dyno graphs if he still happens to have them. Every morning, all I do is get in the car, turn the key, and blast down the road to work. I’ve driven my car every day since I got it back, with not even as much as a hiccup. The temperature is rock-steady in all kinds of traffic, even with it being 90 plus here for the last 4 weeks, and I’m still able to break the Drag Radials loose at the top of 3rd gear, and it’s as streetable as anything I have ever driven.
I cannot say enough about the quality of work that P-1 offers, and on so many different levels. Machine work, Tuning, incredibly complex wiring problems that require the use of 3 different pieced together harnesses
…The pricing was really fair, and everybody that sees the AEM install says whoever did that work sure earned their money, and I’m more than happy with the whole experience.
And to top it all off, I got a phone call from Jack today to see how the car is running, even 3-4 months down the road. Where do you find someone that cares as much about your car as you do? That’s quite a hard thing to come across, but it sure is refreshing when you do.
Thanks fellas, I am running on slicks at Rockingham on the 7th of August, hoping to break into the 11’s and drive it home that evening, and it wouldn’t be possible without your help.

Yack and Bob are good people. I remember Bob taking me for a quick blast in his snailed Mee-Otter WAAY back in the day (sub-300whp days) during a party at Willard's house. Great fun.
Yack and Will threw a set of Spec B's in my old Hype R in an afternoon, and Yack's highway VAFC tuning was enough to have me grinning from ear to ear.
to the Harris boys, Bob, and the rest of the C-town we-todds that I don't get down to see enough.
[Edit] Not to mention all the cool **** Willard has done to keep my bricks rolling since those old Hype R days

Congratulations on a job well done by all involved.
I especially like the part about making the same power at 9 psi that was previously achieved @ 14 lbs.

all around. I wish I could've gotten a ride in it before Victor sold it, but glad to see it's gone to a good home.
so maybe Jack might help me with my dyno graphs if he still happens to have them.
old setup with 14lbs

new setup with 9ishlbs

P.S. As soon as we do the 25 pound pull on race gas, I'll post them too!!!

Jack
The only dude i know who can...
1. walk from Charlotte to Virginia with no shoes on
2. have a sampler at BK or Wendys
3. break his foot on his own dyno
Big props gee.
Lane, i wana get a ride in that bad boy. I remember Kack and Will telling me about it back when we were at the Rock, but damn, sounds like its holding up SUPER!
Words on Jack are some i am sure everyone here can agree on. My buddy bought an ATS clutch from him for a Turbo Si about a year back, and recently that same guy bought a S2k and called up Jack for not only a clutch, but also a set of Volks and some other parts. Jack got back to him within a day. Major thums up

I'm very glad this beast is up and running! Thanks Jack for your TLC! I just want to say, Jack is the man with his tuning magic. Also, Extreme Motorsports in MD, just sucks! They had the car for 5 years and didn't do much to the car at all. During that time, I was getting out of the drag racing scene and looking forward into HPDE's with my (at the time) new TYPE-R. SO I'm very glad to find someone to take the car and run with it! The pics look great! Thanks for keeping us up to date!
