Default shifting into first

Hey guys, when im at a light, sometimes i find it hard to shift into first. I dont know why, but sometimes it wont even go in... when i cant get into first i shift into 2nd and 3rd and back into first and it will go in no problem... it's like ill play with all the gears and they will go in just fine, and it will even go into first no problem... but just sometimes at a light it wont go in easily... and its happened that occasionally i was in a rush so i took off in second... any idea's?

When your in neutral at a light and it wont go into 1st, keep it in neutral step off of the clutch and then press your foot down again and it should go into 1st.

i think it just sounds like a prelude thing man. Ive had my nice tune ups and fluid changes, doesnt do a damn thing to change the tranny fluid. just let out the clutch and depress it again and you should be fine. Not a big deal.

My car does it as well. What I'll do is downshift while coming to a light... and usually downshifting under 20mph yields no problems going into 1st.

I have the same problem. It has done it even after I had the clutch and tranny fluid changed.

Actually...most manual transmission cars have the same problem. I think it has something to do with the timing of when you push in the clutch to get into neutral...like the fw is still spinning so it cant go into gear...or somethin. Anyways....it was the same with my lude, my civic, my friends ford probe, its just part of manual.

yeah my civic did the same thing.....haven't noticed it on the lude yet, but yeah every manual ive driven has been bitchy with the gears at points....like when i first get in it and try to put it in reverse, it doesnt always wanna go in so i have to shift into 3rd or some gear then put it in reverse

i used to have that problem. what i do now that seems to fix it most of the time is to downshift while you hold the clutch in while you are braking

works for me...

Reverse does not have a syncro though - so when you go into any other gear before reverse, that'll match the speeds together.
