Anyone running a carbon fiber hood without hoodpins?
i'd put some on..why risk it? 30 bucks for some pins vs hundreds to thousands of dollars in damage? **** come on...
should get some black anodized ones.....well its your choice anyways- i drive 100 miles a day on the freeway for work....ive seen 2 cars have their CF hood come up a bash the front windsheild, riping out the bolts and then crushing the fenders.
and their cars were pretty ugly...

All depends on the hood. Ive run my VIS hood without pins for ~1.5yrs without any issues. Make sure you transfer the weatherstripping over from the stock hood in the front as well.

I agree to an extent.
But if you do your homework and get the right product, install it properly, and remember to close the hood when you drive, this problem should be non-existent.
-Nick, who has never ever ever seen one VIS hood he knew was installed and closed properly fly up.

i made a post like this a long time ago...i still bought hood locks, but i just dont like the idea of drillin into a cf hood! When i first put on the hood, one corner would flex a little bit..this scared me...so i put some weather stripping inbetween, and now theres no flapping.....been driving around with my cf hood with out hood locks or pins for over a year now....no problems what so ever.....but then again, having locks or pins is a safety issue..its up to you if you want to have that kind of security!
yup.... have had the vis one for a coulpe years now, no hood pins. I've hit 120 and it shakes a little but nothing to bad, and it has never popped on me.
ive had two hoods. first one used hood pins (pretty ugly looking) and my current one i am not using hood pins. to keep it from vibrating, i adjusted the little bump stop things that the hood rests on. now the hood is solid and no vibration or rattling. btw by adjusting the stops up there is a slight gap on the front of the hood, but hardly noticiable.
ive got a vis oem on my integra no hood pins but i need to put that weatherstripping on the cf hood, but sometimes if you try to look at the hood when your doing 70 it looks like its shaking up and down
For those of you who added the weather stripping to your VIS hoods - did you just rip off the old stripping and super glue it on to the CF hood?
The VIS hood should have little holes drilled to transfer the weatherstripping over. Although they dont fit well...if worse comes to worse just epoxy/superglue it on.

i am running the OEM carbon fiber hood on my DA, its VIS by the way. It is held down pretty damn well. Hood pins are distracting and time consuming.
