Pro Drive/Circuit Worx Oil Pump Gear Disaster!!!
PAGE 3 HAS ALL THE PICTURES!!!

Driving my street car/drag car in front of my house a few weeks ago my Ls/Vtec shut off and then had no oil pressure. Process of elimination...I new my oil pump failed. I had installed the Pro Drive oil pump gear about 1 year ago. Well, took the pump off and there is it, my pro drive oil gear in literally 20+ pieces. Some large chunks, some small pieces. Also metal shavings inside my motor and in the oil pan! By this time I am quite pissed, yet i know some friends that have had their oil gears fail, but theirs' was because the housing got worn and oil passed thru.
So I called Pro Drive/Circuit Worx today to tell them what happened and basically they just blew me off saying its a race product and they don't warranty any of their products. I gave them my $.02 and they will do nothing for me. I have been selling Pro Drive/Circuit Worx products to customers for the last few years. I have always been in this business and its simple, customer service! Many people know me or know of me and they can say the same thing about me.
I don't get it! Pro Drive won't warranty their products when they break in 20+ pieces.
Anyone else had a problem with their products or trying to warranty their products? I have talked to some of my friends that own large tuner shops and they have even called Pro Drive and pro Drive just tells us its for race use and they don't guarantee it! Why should anyone buy a product that the manufacturer doesn't stand behind 110%??????????
I would highly reccomend using stock oil pump

May just end up getting a wet or dry sump oil pump system!

I ONLY use stock oem crank pulley's!
I ONLY use stock oem crank pulley's!
I only rev my car to 8500-8700 and I know very well if I rev pass that consistantly that will cause the gear to go.
I have talked to some people who make wet and dry sumps and it seems like pro drive is just a heep of ****...
I wish I knew before and I would have gone with an external oil sump OR good ol' trusty oem honda pump!
FYI: DO NOT USE PRO DRIVE!!!!!!

Sorry to here that man, we have used stock and we are using prodrive gears, we have never broken a stock one or a prodrive, are motors in our race car are precision balanced, they spend alot of time in this area, and I know for a fact you cant use a lightned pulley, it will shatter the stock gear and a prodrive, our customers have proven this, knock on wood we're making over 700hp to the wheels and have alot of passes this year on the prodrive gear, If you have everything correct and the gear broke I think prodrive should stand behind it, at least send you a new gear, I've sold lots of their stuff also, I feel for ya
We have broken stock and Pro Drive pumps. We had the Pro Drive tested to see what the metal was and it was very similar to the stock pump. There are very many different types of metals that would be superior, and I don't know why they chose the one they did. The only reason I could guess was for cost. I would like to test the Toda one but I have never seen a broken one.
The problem with any gerotor pump is the more rpm you turn the more they vibrate. On the dyno I touched a Moroso dry sump gerotor pump and was suprised how much they vibrate. These pumps run at 60 percent of crank speed so at 10,000 rpm the pump is turning 6000 rpm. On a Honda if you turn 10K the pump is turning 10K. I think there is a solution to this problem with better alloys but I have not seen it yet.
I have checked the balance on the light weight pulleys on the market and they are balanced to zero. I do believe that the heavier pulleys stabilize the crank snout and therefore help the harmonics of the pumps or the heavier pulley absorbs these harmonics.
Until a better oil pump is made I would recommend an accusump and a pressure switch that cuts the ignition when you lose oil pressure.
