Default Car Just Isnt Running Right, No Cels though *descriptive*

Finally figured out how to adjust the TPS and hold it in place and screw it down while keeping it perfectly still. TOOK 2 DAYS!!! And I really should have just asked for help. But today I decided to take the car for a ride and it just doesnt feel right.

Signs

-slow throttle response
-defientely leaking exhaust
-using pm6 ecu for emissions tests

Also, I really need help solving this problem.

THE CAR WONT GO UNDER 1000 RPMS
The idle screw is all the way to the left and the lowest it will go is 1000 even fully warmed up and the fan kicks on. What would caus it to not go down? Im not getting any CELS but I really need this idle to go down for the sniffer.

Also could the shitty running be caus my the pm6? Would the car still pass using a pg7 ecu? Canadian Emmissions Test

ALSO

I have a 2 piece header, I dont have anything inbetween the 2 pieces, its just the metal bolts together so I think thats leaking, where the exhaust bolts up to the back of the cat, there is no gasket there

I was actually told my a friend that you can just use plain jane old cardboard instead of paying 26 bucks. Any insight?

Any help would be appreciated, cause Ill be bumping this **** til I figure it out lol

check to see if the throttle plate (in the TB) is stuck open a hair when idling.

well how about runnin the right ecu, getting a gasket on that header first then i suggest checking timing, once you have done that i would look for vacume leaks

take off the intake tubing and look inside the throttle body for the brass plate.

So you want me to take off my intake and let the car idle? Look inside the throttle body for a brass plate, and how will I no if its open or not?

I dont know how it functions so I dont know what Im looking for, if it is open a bit, how do I fix the ****

Well I have to use the pm6 ecu to pass emmissions dont I? PG& runs to rich

Ill check for vaccuum leaks, how many vacuum lines are there?

Any ideas on the cardboard gaskets? I think theyd work

cardboard will burn and light on fire. get the proper gasket! or use gasket material and make one. cheap cheap. Car doesnt have to be idling. just take a peek into the TB and you'll see what i mean.

Any other suggestions besides the vacuum leaks and the butterfly for my 1000rpm idle- How do I fix it if its slightly open?

Any other ideas

Thanks so far

Pull of your intake all the way to the throttle body. If the brass plate covering the hole into your intake manifold isn't closed all the way you can push it closed. If it's stuck pull it off and use TB cleaner on everything. NOT carb cleaner, it can foul sensors. I also use a little bit of white lithium grease to help the butterfly operate more smoothly. A little bit goes a long way. You're throttle cable might also be a little too tight keeping it open slightly.

DON'T USE CARDBOARD GASKETS!!! Use gasket material.

Is it a stock TB, if not, the TPS might be slightly out of position....

So theres gonna be a plate inside the t/b right?

Also the TPS is 100% perfect, It was like .48 Idle and 4.49WOT

Throw the pg7 in, see if it fixes anything, cant hurt, just reset the ecu to see if your throwing any codes

do not use cardboard your car wil catch on fire, your better off listening to the exhaust leak if your gonna be to cheap to buy gasket material to make your own

If there is a hole in your TB gasket, it can keep your idle high. If there is a hole, it bypasses the TB. Check it by starting the motor, and while it's still cold, grip around the TB where it connects to the IM. If the RPM's drop, then your TB is at least part of the problem.

I had the same problem when I put a del sol gasket on my B16 SiR. Put on one from a 93 GSR, and it fixed it.

I had a somewhat similar problem to this, hopefully this works for you as it did for me. take off your intake so you can look inside the throttle body when the car is idling. There are two ports, put your finger over the bottom port and see if your idle goes to normal. This happened in my b16 crx, and I could not figure out why the car was reving so high, but its because a valve goes bad on the tb that keeps sucking up cold air, even after the motor is warm. I plugged it with a fat ball of electrical tape, and it worked, hopefully that helped.

ok.. lets get this fixed!

1. Idle is constant @ 1200rpm? or a "hunting" idle?
2. when it's fully warm and the idle is "wrong" disconnect the IACV wiring plug and check idle speed. report back.

Well I just went to the car for 2 hours to see if my brother would help me, he checked all my vacuum lines and said they were all fine and snug in used a diagram to make sure they were in the right spots

Also he found 3 exhaust leaks after the cat but before the muffler, it was still drying when I left but Im guessing that fixed the really loud ******* noises the **** was making

Also the idle at start up jumps to 2200 RPM then after about 3 min goes just fine down to 1000

What I dont get though, is that my idle screw is all the way to the left so the motor should be stuttering and stalling but it holds tight @ 1k

Hope theres an explanation for this, I will try openning up the intake tomorrow and plugging the bottom hole? But I dont know what the IACV is or where it is

As you can tell Im **** at troubleshooting, why cant this **** be like dirtbikes, I dominate those

the iacv is usually mounted on the back of your intake manifold, its got a wire connector plugged into it and probably has a hose on it(sorry no pics)..also i would think some exhaust leaks before your muffler would help you pass the emmissions test since some of the exhaust is escaping out before the tester..what do you think?..one more thing get new and correct throttle body and intake manifold gaskets and torque the bolts holding those parts on properly...good luck dood
