head porting...what works and what doesnt?
hey all i have a gsr in my hatch and its pretty kwik now but i want to get a few more things done, but my question is this WHAT WORKS ON HEADWORK?
i have seen endynes stuff and DPRs work and some local machine shops do some stuff but what are the areas that acutally need the most work? and does anyone have any CC #s.
i can of course take out the casting marks and smooth out some ruff edges myself, but my theories may be different than the next guys, so if anyone has any experience with GOOD headwork or does headwork, let me know

The main points of the head that need attention are the bowls and the area of the port within 1" of the bowls...and the area around the valves in the combustion chamber, which is called deshrouding the valves.BTW..the bowls are the area of the port right behind the valves. Also, the valve job is very important..its all about getting the air into the cylinder and those area's are the most important.
The best "bang for the buck" head porting is to have the valve bowls ported and a good valve job. That's 85% of the gains made in a ported head.
Port matching the intake doesn't do anything unless there's a huge overhang, .. polishing the
casting marks or polishing the runners doesn't do anything other then make it look "bling" as you're bolting it on.
There is value in having a pro Honda head guy do the valve job. Most have spent a ton of time and research to find what works, .. Ed's Racing heads, RLZ ( Brad ), Head games, etc.
