Default REPLACE your input shaft seal...

You all remember my weekend rear main seal adventure right? Of course you do! https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=845146 Well...my stupid *** didn't replace the input shaft seal (the seal under the input shaft bearing) when I did that because I thought the seal LOOKED okay BAD IDEA

Whenever your clutch is off always replace your rear main seal and input shaft seal! I had to redo everything over again. I got some oil dye to make sure that it wasn't engine oil, and surely enough it was transmission fluid. So I spent yesterday and today tearing apart my transmission to replace one stupid seal!

First I had to clean my garage:

Mmmmm nice and clean workbench:

The two culprits of clutch housing leakage. I took on the rear main seal last time, now its time for the input shaft seal:

Check out my bling bling transmission:

Phat *** oil buildup:

Totally rad throwout bearing:

On the block side:

Ontop of all this, I found out my slave cylinder was leaking

Alright, well I cleaned the PP and put the new clutch disc on:

Input shaft seal replaced and transmission almost re-assembled

Of course I have to throw in a pic of my bling bling sohc:

You put in a new clutch disk without resurfacing the flywheel?

Yeah, I attempted that too - wish I didn't. Clutch is slipping already with less than 10k miles.

Flywheel was resurfaced in March when I did the initial tranny swap.

Wow Bauley, this looks familiar. Glad to see yours is going to be fixed. Mine hasn't leaked since we put the rear main seal on. I hope you gapped it correctly.

How long does it take you to pull the tranny, since you have done it 5 times.

3 hrs to get it off...another 3 to work on clutch/FW/transmission, then 3 to put it on. This is working ALONE without air tools or a lift.

yeah I see alot of pretty nice OBX stuff..
its wierd..

yo you should really get some more cheap juice out of that bitch.
Try a high comp heagasket, or mill the head,
and a hondata style IM gasket,
and a d15b vtec cam. bet you could grab urself another 10-15

but anyhoo,
I'm installing a new engine,
d15b vtec, and y8 tranny,
i'm using the clutch off my cx,
so do I need to replace these seals on my y8 tranny???
if it requires tearing the tranny apart then i'm coo..

Rule of thumb...open the trans, spin all of the bearings, the ones that click need to be replaced. I'd replace the input shaft bearing and seal anyways. When the trans/clutch/FW are off i'd also replace the rear main seal.

Yeah...they have a SS turbo manifold for like $170 that looks pretty nice too. Don't know whats up with that ****

My entire setup will be:
10:1 Mini Me B7/Z6
EX Tranny
OBX Header
Straight through muffler
K*N Filter w/ 3" intake arm
Exospeed Stage 2 Cam
AEM Cam Gear
B&M FPR & Gauge

Then hopefully in late july she will go to get t00ned. Hoping for 130WHP and 14's in the 1/4
