Spoon Axle Back Exhaust...
Well I'm thinking about going with this exhaust but i wanted a couple of facts and opinions. First of all how does this exhaust compare to the Apexi N1 catback (performance wise). Oh yeah i will be running JDM header and Carsound cat. For the money is this a good performing exhaust is basically what i want to know. Also does anyone know how it sounds? Not to loud is it? Thanks in advance
I believe Brian sprinkel (i hope i spelled it right) can help you out, he had the street type exhaust in the past. It supposed to be really nice and stealthy. i saw it once and wasnt sure what it was..real small tip on it.

Spoon N1 is loud all the time. When Bryan is putt-putting around pit lane, it's reasonably quiet at like 1/10th throttle, then as soon as he lifts, it goes "BWAAAAAA" when it revs down.
He doesnt have it anymore though.

I still have the N1, I used to have both the street as well as the N1. I put my stock muffler back on for street use, now the the R is my daily driver again.
The Street unit is very nice, not loud at all, as far as performance, I would say just keep your stock, maybe 2 hp
I can feel a difference with the N1, atleast I think I can. Maybe its the noise
Hope this helps.

I've had two Spoon Sports SPORT mufflers on my R before.....
One was borrowed and had a crazy crunch on the bottom....somebody basically backed it up onto a parking curb....so the packing inside was nice and compact. That muffler made about 15% more noise than stock....but it was NEVER annoying....EVER. It made a deep hummmm that sounded like.....dare I say it... a baby VR6.... (ducking for cover now)
The other one I had was basically mint, and dammit.... low rpms it made some noise...but it was barely perceptible.... the torque seemed marginally better, but it certainly wasn't worth it in my eyes. Spoon has once again changed their can design to something even larger to kill more sound.....
I was so tempted to water tune the Sport muffler....too bad I got rid of it before I had a chance....
Oh well...... go N1.....Go N1!

ITR632,
you might consider your set up first. are you going to run a cat? are you running a b-pipe with a resonator? I drove behind HYBRID_EG during the SoCal meet. His exhaust didn't seem too loud, but I don't know what his set up is.

why do they call it axle back if you axles are up front and these systems are just the muffler section????
just something to think about.

spoon n1 is not that bad.. i currently have use it w/stock header, cat, piping.. to be honest i was expecting that hight pitch sound (i like that lawn mower noise) but it sounds very deep.. especially inside of the cabin.. on the outside its not that bad.. but i think if you were to combine it with a 4-1 header and no cat like i'm going to do.. hmm here come the tickets... personally i like the way it looks... very compact and you can hardly notice if when someone is driving behind you..
unlike the rocket launchers (aka apexi n1)

I like the Spoon N1! it sounds tight!, not so fond of the look though.. kind of plain. Just personal preference i guess.. Too loud for some people, Just riiiiiiiight for others
I dont mind it on the track, but everyday driving it wears on me. Not to mention i happened to glance in the back seat at my 3 year old son while taking a little road trip, he had his hands over his ears. I knew then it was time to swap
