Brake pads for occasional track and street use?
Just wondering if you guys could recommend some for me. So far I hear alot of people saying Panther +s but they say they're noisy around town.
I hate messing with the brakes so I don't really want to change em everytime I go to the track.
I already have some ATE fluid and SS lines.

I used the P+ pads for about 9 months and 8 track events, including street driving. They do squeak, but you can apply some anti-seize to the backing plates to reduce the noise. They'll work fine for your first few track days as long as you have good brake fluid, but as you get faster it's not hard to make them fade.
I thought about getting another set since you can leave them in all the time, but I can probably wear them out in 2 or 3 events. Once you start changing your pads out frequently, it becomes quick and easy.

you still need to bleed often, and if you are planning on tracking it, you need to get some dedicated track pads and keep spares along for the ride with the essential tools for the swap.
so if I'm going to need to bleed them often I guess I might as well get some dedicated track pads.
what pad would you suggest for that?
also any suggestions on a power bleeder?
Thanks again

How hard are you on the brakes? Do make up time in the braking zones? Do you trail brake? Every engage the ABS while on the track? That will give me an idea of how hard you use your brakes and what pad would suit you best.
As for the power bleeders, I've tried them all and still prefer the two man bleeder, one pumps, the other bleeds. It's 100% reliable and works best for me. Trouble is, you'll need a second person to operate the pump, gf's do a good job at that.

Vapor,
I've never been to a track day though i will be going to my first one on July 11th. I am pretty hard on my brake when doing "canyon runs", don't get the ABS on too often but I do get a lot of fade to where I have to take it easy for a while so that the brake work again properly.
If it means anything also, I'm a very late braker when I do track days with my motorcycle.

I'm going to get a set of carbon brake cooling ducts that direct airflow to the eye of the rotor. This is the ideal setup as it increases the efficiency of whatever brake pad you run. I ran the stock pads for all the auto-x's I attended as well as a few track events. I don't make up time in braking and concentrate more of my efforts on my line and consistancy. In a car where your usable powerband is high in the rev's, momentum is top priority. So don't worry about your brakes when you go out there, keep them stock and worry about other things. This car has a quirky attitude when encountering bumps midcorner. Learn the car's habits first on a controlled environment then step up to higher coefficent of friction pads.
