Default Ported and Polished head ?

If I'm going with an upgraded cam setup (toda Bs) how worth it is porting and polishing the head. My friend who wants to sell his to me says that it increases the flow of oil. How much does this help me?

and one more thing. Is a ported and polished head (used for 2 months) for $850 a good deal? how much would you pay?

Sounds like a good deal, if all you had to buy was the cams, but port & polish increases oil flow? No.

Um, I thought a ported and polished head increased air flow, not oil flow...

Yes AIR FLOW "Oil Flow ", it also reduces turbulence.

Maybe that was my mistake not his. John Brown in Ft. Lauderdale did all the work to his car so I'm assuming he also did this head.

ok, so my real question is "Is it worth it (for that price) to get the ported and polished head with an upgraded cam setup?"

Porting gives you bigger ports compared to stock,It gives you more air-flow and the polishing side is for better for oil flow to reduce any turbulance in the head. Lol, Mike, it doesn't increase oil flow but it makes it FLOW better. When u are changing the entire valvetrain of the head, u have to get a ported polished head to achieve maximum hp out of the setup. For N/A setup, it is mandatory to have a ported and polished head. Good luck

You can port and polish your head if you want to. I decided not to with it because a ITR head is already mildly port and polished. You still will get good results with just the cams if you do it the right way and get it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing. It all matters on what you want. Cars can be an endless money pit of you want them to be. Good Luck

i know this is OT in the "Type R" forum, but this question still ponders me for a while

JDM CTR pistons and camshafts: Is it better to get my head ported and polish on my GSR head while putting in the CTR's? Is it better to do it all @ the same time without dishing-out more money just to install one by one?

Sorry to ask? but im learning!

Thanks!

Porting and polishing can be overdone - and cause a loss of power if you don`t know what you are doing. It is best done with flow bench testing by a professional shop like Portflow or DPR etc

The stock head flows pretty good and I would say that the stock TB and intake plenum would be where you should concentrate efforts first.
