no.
just throw a balanced ITR crank, R rods, and either ctr or itr pistons.
you can even put a balanced LS crank in the B16B block with LS rods with arp bolts, or aftermarket rods with the same pistons i mentioned or aftermarket have more CC's (w/LS crank)

edit: that's all the spoon stroker kit is, itr crank and r rods.

Yes, and you can use a gsr crank too. All the spoon kit is, is and itr crank and rods anyway, overpriced if you ask me.

balanced and micropolished. With some ib rods and pistons. In a b16b block

I personally think it's a pretty damn good deal. Brand new itr rods, pistons, crank, bearings, and 2 layer spoon headgsaket for $1100. How much would all that stuff cost if you sourced it seperately, even used?

it's less cost efficient; produces = power for too much more $.

like others have said, if you want the most power for the $, get a nicely used b18a/b / b20b/z crank and rods, arp rod bolts, use the ctr slugs and stock hg w/the b16b block, and use the $ saved with your superior (than spoon) shortblock on manifolding, cams, and tuning, and you'll kill any B combo publicly available from spoon.

I believe spoon lightens and rebalances the pistons at least.... thats another couple bills to take to a machine shop and have done.

honestly, they prolly just weigh the stock stuff and match it together with closer tolerances for weight/balance than Honda does at the factory. i doubt that they do any machining themselves whatsoever on it, or have anyone else do any. they prolly just charge for measuring, choosing, and packaging better matched stuff.

13310-P73-J01 CRANKSHAFT 1008.95 857.61 x1

13210-P73-000 ROD, CONNECTING 134.54 114.36 x4

13010-P73-A00 PISTON SET (STD) 44.85 38.12 x4

13011-PR3-004 RING SET (STD) 32.68 27.78 x4

Spoon 2-ply metal headgasket 136.00 x1

vs.

a good used b18 crank (vtec even) can be had for <$200.

he has the pistons and rings (can be reused in same bores if they're ok).

good used b18 rods <$75 for all 4. Eagles ~$310.

ARP bolts ~$45

using the ctr slugs, no 1-ply hg is necessary, and a stocker is ~$50.

use some ACL or stock bearings, have a good machinist check and balance everything, and you still come out hundreds ahead, and with something which may very well last as long and put down more power.

there's a reason most people haven't bought the spoon stuff- a lot of good, free advice, more smarts than $, etc.

If you really think its a ripoff, you're retarded. You can't compare the cost of used parts to brand new parts, and deeply discounted used parts at that.

is it worth it? yes if you compare brand new vs brand new. no if you compare getting used parts then machining them to be brand new.

I guess if you wasted your money on a B16B, then waste even more on a HOTTT JDM STROKER KIT!

you could've taken that $8,000 you spent on the engine and built a b16a to kick its JDM TYPE R ***.

None of them have they just think 1180 is too much. **** thats a decent price for all that you get but to each his own. I think 1200 for a turbo manifold is a insane price but people buy them and for what to run on the street, now thats a waste of money. I think if you have a decent mechanic get the stroker kit unless you can source the crank and rods and other parts cheaper.
