edit: thread seems to be frozen.... here are the pics though (saved before he took them down)
this is located in Toronto. GettaluvR, i know yours was stolen last year in the area
the guy has been posting on other local forums. each one so far has asked the same, "where's the VIN?" and he's never answered. apparently a reputed thief as well. keep an eye out guys, and keep 'em safe

its obvious that the vin# on the shell has been shaved away. But how did you guys come to the conclusion that the stamp on the motor was shaved off? Although I noticed he got a bit defensive when someone asked to take pix of it.

True, but if my car was to get stolen and stripped, i would rather have the motor be destroyed than be put in some bastard's car.

Same here, not only because hes out busting *** with your ****, but the fact that you wouldnt even know it, and the thought of that can drive one stircrazy. Just think, see 5 hatchbacks in a week, all R swapped, and just sit and wonder which one might be yours...
Also sucks to have a block that is out of an R in a hatch and be looked at like a theif

It should be illegal to own a motor with a shaved block stamping.
Here's an idea: Everyone should write down their block ID, when your car gets stolen, post up the block ID for everyone to see. Might help bust a civic with a swap at the rice shows.

Are you guys referring to the VIN on the tranny? Cuz mine fell off a long time ago while pressure washing the engine (although on the older cars it was just a sticker).
And what is up w/ the engine bay, looks like it had a fire or something.

It is in Texas... If the car comes down here you just drop dime on them and dps will come over and check the whole car out for #s... If its does not have any or he can not produce a legit recept you go to jail and the car is seized.. I have done it to a crooked person a few years ago and sent them to the big house ( i even got a reward).
12 stolen cars were retrived .

You know you can all ways contact the pd in the area on the posibility of a stolen car.
All you need is an address.. and a name and let them check it out.. They are very receptive down here for that stuff..

it snows winter time so i believe those are rust proof.
even the cops told me they would never bother to look at any cars unless they got pull over for something else, and feel fish about the car, that's the only time they would check it otherwise you can be driving my stolen car with different plate No. they would never know
