It makes speed dial faster.

acting like i didn't see u spell vtec wrong in my opinion u cant go wrong with J G Elderbrock... like the man says, he wouldn't put his name on the products if it wasn't quality
the edelbrock kit is prolly one of the cleanest kits i have seen for the Dseries....even though its a small turbo it hits 180whp at like 6-8psi...there was a coupe at the OC Maryland car show this past weekend with a fresh install....it was real clean, most complete kit but it comes with a large pricetag.

I don'w know how many will belive me when I say this, (I even think that it sounds like I am trying to cover my own ***), but It is seriously a type-o. Anyways. It seems like everybody enjoyed the spooled speed dialing conversation.

So your not running VTEC on the edelbrock kit. That seems kind of pointless to me. If it hitting 180 whp, then on VTEC it could easily see 200.

The Edlbrock kit is designed for the Vtec engine. The additional fueling is pre-calibrated from the factory, and it's tuned for Vtec engines only. Of course the kit allows the Vtec to work. The Vtec switch point is tailored for the smoothest transition.
As for the turbo being small, check out the 283Hp the same hardware made on a built SOHC when packaged as an Open Track kit. It's the same exhaust manifold, turbo, intercooler and intake manifold, just no electronics.
That said, if you don't have Vtec you can: 1) swap in a Vtec engine, or 2) buy the open track kit and calibrate it yourself. Unfortunately option two doesn't have emissions certification.

I am almost sure I will be trying this kit on my Y7 build. Out of time.
The fueling differences are minimal. The y8 only makes a few more horsepower than the y7 anyway. The biggest concern is the throttle body but I think it can be relocated with a minimum of difficulties. From what I can tell in the helms, the only difference between the down-draft and side-mount is mounting location. If the VTEC inputs are an issue, I can do up a quick circuit to fake them.
Trying to determine if the engine management can be reprogrammed.
If it works, I'll do up a writeup for anyone who is interested. Unless someone posts to the contrary.
Don't care about CARB here in the sticks, but I definately want the flexibility of the extra injector setup.

just a fyi for the people who dont know, the kit is desinged for a D16Y8 motor which means that the stuff they give you will get you setup good on that motor, but you can also use the kit minus the computer side of it on any D series motor

Not much to worry about that with the Edelbrock kit, since it comes with a new intake manifold. Just have to put the Y7 throttle body on the Performer X intake manifold that comes with it. Or just get a Y8 throttle body and call it a day!

We're going to try the edelbrock kit on the Y7. I'll let everyone know how it works out with a writeup, there are a lot of Y7 motors out there. I'm going to see how much a new Y8 throttle body will run me, but a quick look at the helms indicates they're pretty close.
Worst case I curse, swear, and throw away the stock fueling setup.
Does anyone know if the kit messes with timing? I'm planning on running a MSD BTM setup to handle those duties.. I don't think much retard is going to be needed at stock boost levels anyway.
