Default Skunk2 Valvetrain + Skunk2 Intake Manifold Setup

Hey whats up guys...

A while ago I posted a thread about what would you guys do with $2500.
Well I decided to go All Motor and I went to a local shop and I ordered Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams and a full Skunk2 valvetrain (Springs, Retainers, + Valves). And I also asked the guy about the Skunk2 Manifold for the H22 and if it was ever going to come out. He told me that as a matter of fact it was coming out this month, so I just went ahead and ordered one for me .

Now with that said...I know I'm going to need a new head gasket, Intake Manifold gasket, and may be a new header gasket.

I was talking to my friend yesterday and he was telling me that I'm probably going to need a bigger Fuel Pump, a Fuel Pressure Regulator, and new injectors. Now I'm wondering how bad do I need this?

I was also wondering what does a Multi-angle valve work do? and how much do you guys think it takes to get that done and how much to get the head ported and polished? I'm in Sac in North Cal so if you guys could point me to some shops around here?

And also how much power should I expect from this setup, just a rough estimate.

Thanks yall ::

gonna need a FPR. usally most FPR's wont fit on the stock fuel rail, so new fuel rail time. injectors should be fine. Good luck on that skunk2 intake manny, i have yet to see one. If you ever get it take some pics and let everyone know what you think. Do a base-run before you mod the beast, to see how much of a gain you got with these parts. I suggest a Hondata intake manny gasket, worth the 60 bucks.

Good luck

Yea I know it's been said that it'll be coming out soon and the guy called his Skunk2 dealer right then when I was there and asked him "Hey that Skunk2 Manifold is coming out this month right?" and the guy apparently answered yes. Eitherway if it doesn't coming out this month it's alright I can wait I guess. Plus I Got it pretty cheap for like $333 since I bough the whole setup from the guy.

I'm still looking for a good price on the Cam Gears, he wanted $250 and I just took them out, I know I can at least get them for $190 but I'm hoping I can pull $150 from somewhere, if not may be I'll go with the Golden Eagle Cam Gears..

Thanks for the info, now I know I need to be looking at Fuel Rails now, I guess AEM Fuel Rail should be pretty good I haven't heard any complains from anyone about them yet. What brand of FPR do you guys suggest? and what about the fuel pump?

About doing a base run sounds good but I'm still trying to find another dyno over here in Sac or in Nor Cal. The one thats local here wants $130 per hour, that seems kinda pricy...

AEM also makes an FPR to go on their rail. im not 100% on the whole fuel rail thing, but im PRETTY sure.

Yea cheapest dyno time ive seen is 125 per hour tuning. i forgot how much it was for 3 pulls.

portflow charges 900 bucks for a port and polish and multi-angled vavle job.

turn around is about 2 weeks. I went with a local shop who ported and polished my head by hand.

the port and polish will make a world of difference, if you got the cash go for ittt

Sounds like a good plan to get it port and polished but the extra $900 will kill me right now lol. Seeing that I still owe the other half for the parts on pick up.

go back to the shop and get your $333 from the skunk2 manifold, unless you like giving money away.

Get the B&M FPR, don't bother with the AEM unless you actually plan on utilizing their rail other than for looks. The OEM fuel rail is good for at least 250-300 whp. Personally I wouldn't go with the Skunk2 stage 2 cams if you're keeping the compression stock as they're not designed w/ a 10:1 compression ratio in mind. They're looking more along the lines of a 12:1.

It will probably be between 190-200whp. I have almost the exact same set-up and it landed me 192whp with stock intake mani.

First of all Thanks for your replies guys.

I got the AEM Rail and FPR for 165 I think that's pretty cheap considering each one of them goes for around 120-150. And about the Compression, I'm going to end up building the bottom end later on, I'm just going to do the head work first.

Hey if it doesn't then hey it doesn't I can always get my money back that's for sure, I guess I like taking the chance and hope it does hehe

I have a couple of friends with it, no problems yet...

Sacramento....The only place here that I know that has a dyno is Motorsports Dynamics and as far as Port & Polishing and the multia angle valve work that I want to do to the head I got no idea of any shops up here that do that...

I had the heads on my legend resurfaced along with a multi angle valve job. The shop has been in business for over 30 years. They are located off of greenback and main street... I don't know if u know where that is but that whole section is car performance related..

There is a smog place there that has a dyno, I don't know if they tune but it's like 60 dollars starting or something like that.

Lawrence is cool. I've been meaning to try DNR since they are right near my house.

I know where Greenback is I think I know the area where you are talking about..

How much did they charge you for the work? And do you think if I took my new parts they'll assemble them after they are done with the head work?

Sounds like it will be worth the trip from what you are saying. How much do they charge? and is it per hour or like 3 Pulls type thing?
