which should I buy first? aem cai or jdm final drive?
I know most people say that an intake is a very good first mod, but I've also heard that even though the jdm final drive doesn't increase hp, your acceleration is quicker than with an intake. Opinions?
You might want to consider injen cai. I remember about a month ago someone posted a dyno chart comparing the two and the injen had more power throughout the whole power band. I did a search but counldn't find it.

you're kinda comparing apples to oranges here. an AEM will give you 2-3 HP more and it's about $200.
jdm final drive will give you faster acceleration but costs $450+ and usually you'd get a lightened flywheel too and if you have mechanical skills like me you'd have to pay someone to install the jdm final drive which i think i've seen quoted for about $300.
i guess it depends on how much money you have to spend. personally, for a 1st mod i'd say go with the CAI, but that's just my opinion.

It is comparing apples to oranges honestly. I have both. I also did a flywheel and clutch install at the same time I did my final drive install. Install was 300. It is not necessary to do all these at the same time esp. if your clutch is new. Mine was new but I wanted something with better grip and had the cash to spend. It is an amazing difference in acceleration. I also have an Injen intake, and while the sound is soooo lovely, it does very little to impress me performancewise. Not that you don't get performance, but it's doesn't have the WOW factor that the final drive does. If you have the cash now do the final drive because you never know what will come up in the future and it's alot easier to scrounge up a couple Benjis rather than 750.

like someone else said apples and oranges, I would get the JDM final drive, at least you can "feel" the difference (well at least w/ a lightened flywheel you can), why don't you get a lightened flywheel while you're at it. I wouldn't get the CAI. I have an Injen CAI and I can't feel that my car is any faster, and alot of people say that the stock intake is good enough.

Final Drive..but only if ur gonna get a lightened flywheel..just know that doing these two will cost a fair bit of change. If ur not willing for the investment, then just go with a CAI
Hope this doesn't sound stupid...but does the final drive kit increase the accleration as well? or is it just for top end?
The final drive don't give you more power, it just allow the gear to rev up faster by alter the Final Gear Ratio.
Anyway, I would go with the AEM first, because it is just too much work to take out the tranny and having it apart just to change the FD. If you want to do the FD, you should at least change the clutch and flywheel. But you may as well swap in a better LSD while you have the tranny apart.

Final drive rev faster and accelerate faster since it has bigger gear ratio and therefore bigger torque multiplier. Therefore more power on the wheel (but the amount of power of the engine is unchange).
