Default Video : Kids in Japan taking some nice corners at night.

Looked to me like the car in front was a JDM ITR.

that takes place every Friday and Saturday nights up in the Hakone mountains about 30 miles south of where I am.. This is about 1000 times more dangerous than street racing because at some points there are no guard rails to indicate a turn. If you go up to them mountains in the day, you can see a lot of cars that had gone over the cliffs. Pretty lame way to snuff out a life.

by the way,...the white car is an R33 Skyline GT-R....an ITR would never be able to drift that cleanly

Sure it isn't an R32?Anyhow,those kids are the very reason we are able to get JDM engines at a reasonable price

Yea .. I went to Hakone last year for a few days to take in some cool on-sen. The amount of cruising going on up there is amazing! I am standing at the bus stop counting all the cars that go by ...

Skyline, Sylvia, Sylvia, FD, Supra, FD, FD, Supra, Fairlady, Skyline, Skyline .. etc.

No Joke .. rather cool. Since Hakone is so close to Toyko all the kids go up there to drive around away from the evil Tokyo trafic. Next time though .. I think I will go check out Izu. Better food.

Love the sound of BOV's

I'm no expert, but drifting around those corner has to be slower than a more conventional braking zone-entry-exit. Even the FIA rally racers do not drift when racing the pavement rallies...

Not smart at all. I can see doing this at a track or in a large parking lot but on a back road with guard rails keeping your car from going off the cliff...I don't think so!! DEATH WISH.

Correct. The conventional method is slow in, fast out. Drifting is more fast in, slow out. Throw the car into the turn and use the drift to scrub off speed. Not the fastest way, but sure does look cool.

*bowing down* Drifting really is an art. ONly inches from the guard rail & no contact! <In most cases>

Um

That was cool to watch, but isn't that blindingly stupid???

Besides worrying about staying on the road, he is RIGHT behind the other guy? If the front guy loses it, the back guy is going to eat it too?

I know, I know, they do this all the time, blah blah blah.

Wait a minute, what about oncoming traffic???

People must die frequently...

Youre..right (after watching it again) it is an R32 ....the R33 rear is a bit more curvy

wrong, they don't drifting they way shown on that video but trust me they don't slow down for the hairpins and the often cut corners to keep the speed, then loose it buy going sideways in the corners. The way rally cars are set up they would loose mega time if they had to slow down for the truns...

If a rally car doesn't slow down for the turns it crashes...
