My guess would be: red goes to a fused 12 volt source(looks like a larger underhood fuse in the pics to me), and black goes to battery ground. Just my 2 cents. Another thing, I noticed it says ELD on the diagram, I believe that stands for electronic load detector, which is located in the underhood fuse block.
What else could it be?? You have the signal hooked up to the dizzy right?? Coils are hooked up right?? Then all thats left is battery hookup and ground.
Do i still need the ignitior (ICM) in the distributor? Do i have to modify the distributor in any way? Can i remove the coil and ICM from the distributor?
Is the ignition in the distributor still triggered? Does the tachometer gets it's information from the MDI?

The distributor has to stay and they will be no mods at all.The MDI just plug n play. The MDI also requires the reading from the original distributor if you take off the ICM and the unit will not work at all. The tach gets it's signal from the distributor through the MDI.
