square port head
anyone know the benefits of running a square port head? such as the RS machine one, versus a portflow head?? i am running a B20VTEC 84.5 13.8:1 CR on race gas... dtr headers, hi-lift cams etc etc...
pros/cons??
proven power gains???

I remember seeing the dyno sheets when Jerry went from a standard ported head to a square port head... The power band shifted, smoothed out and peaked 1000 rpm's higher... There was a little low end toruque loss but the top end gains were phenominal... I personally wouldnt recomend it for a street car but I know of a couple people running them on the street so who knows... To each his own... There isnt enough feedback yet to determine if they work well on street motors, we shall see in the months to come.

Tom at portflow doesnt have a flow bench... Several porters out there dont own flow benches... That doesnt mean they dont have access to one or work closely with one... And besides, flow numbers are nice but in reality dont really mean jack ****... Dyno numbers and track times are what your looking for and RS definitely has all of that...
You can hog port a head to flow a ton, but does that mean its going to perform well?
Flow charts are a go by for porters, not a result calibration device...
Flow results can be misleading

In reality alot of things in a car don't mean jack **** by itself.
I completely understand what you're saying. Ferrari spend millions of dollars on their formula one team. Whether it be areodynamic testings in the wind tunnel or air flow testing for their engines. In the end they all get the same "numerical value" from their testings. But it's just one portion of the formula that all adds up to their dyno numbers and track time.

If you want the power, then you get a ALANIZ Square port, its already known to make massive amonts of power over a "REGULAR" port, if F1 and NHRA people are using it, then it must make power, and the flow will tell you how to build your top end; cams, manifold, headers, etc.
YOU WILL BE SATISFIED WITH THE SQUARE PORT FROM ALANIZ!!!!!
