that's the right thread for me
i got a 96 german civic EK3 d15z6 sohc vtec, 115 hp 1,5 litres.
the engine was built to save fuel and it does,
but had a low vmax (about 180 km/h) the 5th gear has a very long transmission to save fuel
the vtec closes one intake valva at low revs so that the engine works with 12 valves, when this option is on it is shwon by a green light in the dashboard sayin "econo" on it
at high revs the engine works with all 16 valves
the motor is great (after some moddings) and saves lot of fuel when u drive it in the econo mode
if anyone needs further info, drop a pm

Thanks! I fell like I know much more now!
Love this car, and I dont need that much speed. Roads around my town are more for S.U.V. then for the car like mine. What did you meen by "need some modification"? On engine??

i couldn't stand the slow vmax so i had the 5th gears transmission shortened,
then i built in a 4-2-1 header with kat from a esi del sol,
(the ek3 cat is horrible it's like the US ej6 coupes were the cat is one piece with the exhaust header)
now the civic runs really good i have a vmax about 215 now and everything is cool

Hard to find something like that here thou, but i'll try!
By the way, this is my 5th Honda!!
3 Civics, 1 Prelude then Civic again!!!

It would be close to what you call a minime, but it is a stock Honda motor from Europe. There is also the DOHC D16Z5, which always confused me when people would talk about the two.
