Default DIY: GSRX 750/1000 Homemade ITBS

hey everyone..

After hearing and reading about the homemade ITBs i wanted to do one myself..looks interesting..and was curious what kinda of power it can make..so here goes

i used 01 GSXR 750 for my set-up..i picked them becuase u can separate them..i didnt wanna do what some ppl did and weld runners to match the ITBS...i wanted them to be straight...

biggest probs i have was the TPS...the damn thing is to sensitive and it would jump ever so slighty now and then which cuase the idle to change, and WOT voltage to also change...but thats fix now..after i keep playin w. it...(like 3 days straight ugh..)

the Air Temp sensor is mount like stock..i drill a Hole w. the correct size fitting and mounted it through that..

the Air Idle i just plug it in and mounted to the firewall..

Brake vacuum is coming from 3/8 fitting of off one throttle body(no braking issues what so ever)

i made my own throttle bracket and it works fine..even though it hits full throttle b4 the pedal hits the floor, so i'm gonna put custom cushion behind the pedal..

for tunning all i have is a stock p30 jdm ecu w. FPR and Vafc

at 1st it was running so rich..i didnt know y..if anything i though it would run lean..i went through like 3 sets of plugs playing around w. the idle to get it just where i want it..it purrrrs.. really nice now..i had to back off about -18% on the vafc to get it to idle good...

one other major thing i must mention is that, if u decide to separate the ITBs u have to bend the linkage over so that they all still synch..be really really carefull when u do this..if its off just a little..ur idle will be all screw up..i learn the hard way..and its so hard to adjust the idle if one of ur butterfly and open more and vice versa..

it runs really good now..up top is really strong and very smooth..and OMG VTEC sound is just hard to describe..all i gotta say is that its loud as hell..and it makes kool whistling sound at part throttle..hehe

i'm taking the car to the dyno on Sat. and tune it..i know it wants more fuel up top but i dont know how much yet..guess i'll find out..

well on to the picts..i know i miss alot of stuff..bue feel free to ask me..vids will be coming soon.. when its nice outside

BTW: This is hosted on a limited BW account so once it it goes over, it will reset itself the next day..best i can do...

Amazing, much like the way I will build mine. I would like to know a little more about the runner manifold, what did it cost, how were the injector ports constructed? Thanks and again, great job.

if i'm not mistaken i think he used a venom manifold(since the runners are straight) and chopped it.

I highly doubt that, he probably just took a flange and had runners welded on and polished.

are you sure about that? i'm pretty sure he used a venom manifold and cut it right after the fuel rail mounting studs. he was going to use a custom flange and runners, but that never came through so he went this route.

There are also a few cheap manifolds that have the same "straight runner" design as the Vemon manifold. They would be ideal for this setup and I'm assuming that this is what he did. I must say that it's easily one of the nicest DIY jobs I've ever seen. In fact it's giving me ideas on how to further improve upon my setups.

Why did you not use the GSXR fuel injector bungs? They would have provided increased fuel atomization over the original fuel injector bungs on the manifold.

if you do a lil more detailed write up, with a description for each step

i will keep it hosted on my site for a while

im working on a diy forum that actually has new content. feel free to post it up there if want.

here is the directory with all the files you have listed.

http://honda-central.com/images/h_t_stuff/itbs/

im working on a diy section, just like the tech articles on my site.
i have about 4 other things that i need to add there, just been too lazy to do it or not enough time

maybe kendall can actually help on the site and give some more feedback on what you did with the itb's and I can have a more formal article posted with all the info so it helps out everyone
