DIY: Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement (PICS)
Well since No one has done this DIY yet I figured I would.
you need:
Breaker Bar
32mm Socket
12mm Socket
14mm Socket
Punch and Hammer
Phillips and Flat Head screw drivers
and a strong magnet helps alot
New Hub/Bearing Assymblies
and Break Pads/ Rotors if you want to do this at the same time (I did)
1-put on Jack stands and pull off wheels

2-remove spindle cap

Spindle Nut Exposed (looks just like axle nut)

3-Raise locking Tab then Remove
4-Remove Brake disc retaining screws

5-Remove Brake Hose mounting bolt to get a little play in brake line

6-Remove Caliper Mounting bolts
Lower:

Upper

7-Then hang caliper to one side

8-remove Brake disc

9-then remove humb unit from spindle (get washer out with magnet the rip on unit until it come off - put thumbs on spindle and push off)

10-install new BLING BLING HUB and install other parts in reverse order

I have a problem: this has nothing to do with a wheel bearing.
EDIT: while this does include the rear bearings, there is a way to remove only the bearing (press) and retain your stock hub if you don't have the scratch to buy a blingin new one

Over all Not too hard
My rear end was making so much noise that I couldnt even hear my radio over 50mph! it sucked to say the least.
oh and I forgot to add that it might be a good idea to put in longer wheel studs if you are going to do that
studs came with the new hub
and you can not buy just the bearing for the rear (you can for the fronts).... I tried b/c I have a press and they will not sell them with out the whole unit

it is behind the washer in Pic 4 (on inside of hub)----- you do NOT have to press out the Bearing it is ONe Unit and is not sold alone (from pepboys, autozone, oriellys, Napa or honda)

Good write-up. I did this not too long ago. Very straightforward, just expensive. I wish the fronts were this easy.
Interestingly enough, the OEM Honda part was cheaper than it was to get a OE unit from NAPA. Saved about $25.

We're not being critical, we're just used to wheel bearing replacements in the front of the car where you replace only the bearing. What you did was replace the hub assembly. We are simply making a statement about the relevance of the thread title as opposed to the quality of the topic (and pictures). Now if someone searches for "wheel bearing replacement" and they only look at this thread, they'll end up buying parts they don't need.
See if you can get it renamed. This is a great how-to and I'd like it to be available to people who need it rather than people who accidentally stumble upon it for the wrong reasons.

I never once said that this information was in any way bad. I simply suggested that he change the title so it was more appropriate (hub rather than bearing seeing as the entire rear hub is changed as opposed to just the bearing).

I never once said that I knew better than this kid how to do this specific function, I was only alluding to the fact that when I hear "wheel bearing replacement" I instinctively think of the front because those are the only wheel bearings you can replace without them being part of a premanufactured assembly (i.e. the rear).
It's a fantastic writeup and the pictures are great: I never refuted that. My only contention with the whole thing was replacing "bearing" with "hub" since the entire hub assembly was replaced.
Should I make another post, maybe in children's-picture-book format?

Good write up. I did this on my coupe awhile back and it took like 30 minutes. Mine was so damn loud.

Mine was so bad the bearing had seperated and was stuck on the spindle. I have to beat that **** off and then. Also dont forget to apply some grease to the spindle before you put the hub on.

what kind of noise does it make? I have a 93 Civic hatch and I am getting noise from the rear passenger tire. I thought it might be camber problem, it goes away during high speed right turns on the freeway on/off ramp. Any suggestions?
