Alright heres the deal.. i inherited lets say enough money to do whatever i want basically. Well i want to know if anybody has ever done an AWD on their civic/crx.. . so im just wondering if anybody on here has done it or knows about it.. i just need some info on the custom fab. for the rear axels and drive shaft in order to go all wheel drive.. umm hit me up if you know anything about this.. thanks

 

awd crx are so old, the new thing to do is drop in a 2jz sucka...

 

Man, that was done like 4 years ago, the link got the site is floating around here somewhere. There was CRV drivetrain use on the AWD. Also is was a Turboed B20vtec in a AWD Crx.

me too..i thought about a awd turbo b series crx a few years back..but a friend did it and broke the tranny,axles etc...with 7lbs on a b20/vtec....tranny and rear diff/axles are really weak..

 

no way any Honda designed AWD system will work in a high performance application. They weren't designed for it. Go K-series

if you have the money and you want awd do what my stapdad did and buy a friggin r34. its a baller as car that performs like a ****. only downside is it doesnt drift like a s13 j/j
still if you like the idea of the b20 in the crx go do it despite what all these **** sucks think its not like you see it done every day. now the b16 in a crx that is old and has been played out 10fold. point is if you like it and its a nice clean ride then you get my thumbs up.

What the hell? I'm sick of "stunnas" like you in Hondas.

As for the CRX, the AWD system would promote traction, You wouldn't have as much traction problems as you would with a FWD B20 setup. I know i'm kicking myself in the *** wondering if I can do anything else to get traction in my Civic... FWD is a ************.

how about you get a custom driveshaft made to hold power, shouldn't be more than 2-300 dollars, get the rear dif built to hold the power. take the tranny get level10 to upgrade all that to hold mad power (especially the transfer case) and boost 20-30 pounds and call it a day. all in all should be 10-15k i would think. completely doable but only if you really wanna do it. I personally would get the drive train from a K series crv since they come in manual and im sure a built better, but the same stuff still applies.

if those are the cars that you want if you got rich, then you have some serious issues that need to be looked over.

i'm gonna have to agree with most on this issue, that making an AWD CRX is not worth the money and that you should just get a new car if you have lots of money, like you claim.

I hope you never go to a road race event. I'd say that's about 99% of the reason they are there. I love Honda's simply because they are reliable, cheap and easy to maintain, parts are plentiful and I've come to know and love them over the past few years.

However if I was a spoiled rotten kid or made more money, I may not even know what Honda-Tech is. I mean let's face the facts hear...Honda doesn't seem to concerned about the US market as other manufacturers do. I can guarantee if everyone had the money to do whatever...there would be a lot less street car "race cars" in the world.

It has been done, but if you want one, go for it. screw what other people think. i've been thinking of building one for the past year, just havent' had time lately. Hondas rock, my 88 crx hf gets driven way more than my 90 supra turbo, its just more fun.

#4 I used to build tube frame racecars for a living and it will take the north side of 30K to even get it rolling and without even bigger money it won't drive very well, and what are you going to do with it ? It's going to be considered unsafe for the streets and in Culver City you will get picked up quick and your **** sold at auction, nor is it legal for any known race series, nor is there a drag class currently for it since it will end up tubeframe.
