i have a ? about wiring
heres my senario... i recently sold my system... worked find and all. i never took the wiring out just left it in just incase i got something else.. well ibought a amp and 2 10's.. so i go to hook them up and for some reason i wasnt working.. it was a loud constant thump from the speakers... not lioke usual.. its a off beat thump... so i take it out of my car and put it into a buddies car. it worked like a charm in his car. so then i though maybe my wiring is defective, so i took it out and installed a new wiring kit made by rockford... wel tried it again and it did the same thing in my car.. so i take it out and put it back in the other car.. works fine again... wtf is going on? could it be my cd palyer maybe? it used to wrok in my car but i doesnt anymore and i double checked the wiring and its all ran right... helllopp
double check ur rca cables. right and left is on correct channel and make sure it has no contact with each other or the chassis of the vehicle.....
did you tape off the rca's or did you leave em out? sounds like bad pre-amp on your head. try this if possible. get a stereo>rca from radio shack(3$) and use a walkman to input directly into your amp. see if that works.

this maybe completely off base but did you irun the ground and power wire to the amp in separate areas of the car. My buddy ran them next to each other and he had a sound like that because of the electrical interference from the power wire.
I don't know if you ever fixed your problem or not, but your problem is that you had the positive and negative mixed up, ehich caused it to hit in reverse and sound like crap

The only thing thats going to happen if you switch the RCA's is your left and right will be backwards.
