Default Advice on a GST turbo on a ZC>>>>

Would it be a pain in the *** to put a turbo from a 19?? GST on to a ZC in a
89 CrxSi. Meaning the trouble of getting a turbo exaust manifold to suit? Fuel is not a issue, but Some input would be cool...

Not to sure how a HF manifold would enable me to use a turbo of that nature.
Can you get a little more in detail? I E-mailed those gies, and hopefully they will reply, If so I will keep you posted

To make the HF manifold work you will have to make a custom bracket that will allow the turbo to bolt up to the manifold, actually those guys are selling a custom bracket with needed bolts for $100 and if they get 10 orders by Oct 31 the price will drop to $80. I've already ordered mine I'm doing basically the same setup as you ZC with intercooled t25 I figure the entire turbo setup should come in under $1000 not bad huh. Try this link http://thenew.gamesbbs.com/~turbosi/

I actually built the whole setup using basically the same method.. I was thinking of selling it for $1000US.. Anybody interested... I'm actually using an IHI turbo off a Mazda MPV motor from Japan.. It spools up great.

I have it on my D16a6 and the best run I've had so far is 14.39@94mph. Not too bad considering it's a bone stock motor.

These guys are doing EXACTLY what I was thinking about doing to my ZC. Thanks for the link!

I am glad to hear that this is a common thing, Is this plate for a gst. I assume it is a t25. Correct. Only one question, Why do you expect this project to run you a 1000.00? This confusses me. The turbo 100, no need for injectors, so low boost. Maybe a down pipe. I cant see 1000. I just spent 400 on eagle rods, and dam near 500 on weisco forged pistons. **** gets up there. Thats why I thought this would be a reasonably affortable ordeal.

You can use DSM injectors on D series engines

I'd go with a 16G or 14G turbo from a early 90's Talon TSI or Eclipse GST(X?)

I'm pretty sure it's the same size........ the Talon TSi had the same engine as the Eclipse.... almost positive.

up to 94 5spd Talon's, Eclipses, and Lasers came with TD05 14B's autos came with T25's
95-99 Talon's, and Eclipses came with T25's

Price Breakdown
Turbo - 150
Intercooler - 150
Manifold - 50
BOV - 50
Steal Braided oil lines and fittings - 100
Piping and Downpipe - 100
Custom Bracket - 100
Gauges- Boost, Oil, Water, A/F and Pods - 200
Misc. 50 - 100
comes to about 950 - 1000
Not bad considering the greddy kit is about 1600 sans intercooler and it's basically the same turbo as a 1st gen DSM.

Its a really nice setup to make on a low budget, and ofcourse prices will vary depending on how good a deal you can find on all the parts.

Are you familiar with the DSM injectors? What are there specs compared to stock numbers. Or if you know where I can do some research. Also I was told I could use stock injectors from a legend or a Vigor. Is this true?

You are using a turbo from a crv? Cool, Do you have a crx? What manifold "HF"
Did you make your own bracket. Did the turbo bolt in under your manifold but above your downpipe? What injectors did you use. Ecu. Reason being I have 2 CrxSi, 89. And your time sound good. The best I did with a new rebuild, dual friction clutch , shaved head, 40,000 of a inch, new rings, bla bla bla was a 15.7.
New 4.6 mustangs only run a 15-15.2.

This in my humble opinion would be one killer setup. Things to consider buying with this kit.

Limited Slip Differential-To put all of that 200 plus hp to the ground in that 2200 lb car.
Act Clutch-To transfer all that power to your drivetrain without a big nasty slip.

Ok now on to the have to have's in my opinion.

DSM stock injectors. 95-99 are 330cc injectors I do believe. You have to modify them somehow but zdyne or hondata will be able to tell you how.
Custom programable ecu. I'd say zdyne is the best for the money on the older cars. Send them an si ecu and for 800 I think it is now they'll send you back a fully programmable ecu already programmed for a set boost.
A good T25 will spool the quickest of the two turbos. Though the 14b will flow more air and if it will fit, it's definately bigger, will give you more top end. I should know I own a 92 eagle talon awd tsi, and a 95 mitsu eclipse gs-t along with my crx w/ zc. I've though many many times about this setup but as you can see, my money is kind of spread out at the moment. Also you can have piping fabricated at a local muffler shop, won't be the best but it'll get the job done. The zc would make an ideal engine to turbo as it has two cams. Better to tune a twin cam setup. It may not flow better than a vtec head but with boost you'll be running near the 200 hp mark. I say this on a guestimate that 1 psi = 10hp. I've heard from reliable sources with correct tuning the stock internals will take 10 psi of boost. Being realistic that puts you somewhere near or over the 200 hp mark. If anyone does this setup please post up a webpage on all your steps and progress.
