Default quiet or loud exhaust????

well ive gone though like at least 5 different exhausts in the part 1.5 years, and i really cant make up my mind. i want something loud, so i get something loud. then i get annoyed and get something quiet. then i want something loud and the cycle continues. i think i might go back with my oval stock style magnaflow. i dont want to give up my throttle response, and stock might just bother me too much, so i think this might be a good choice.

someone who WANTS a purposely loud exhaust = someone who's probably a ricer. SLEEPER'S THE WAY TO GO!

Don't get something for the sound. Get it for what you need it for. If you have a high horsepower turbo setup then get a straight through design. This will be loud regardless.

If you want a chambered setup, to create some backpressure, but also slightly freeing up the flow, then get a chambered setup. It will be quieter.

Ricer

What's your definition of loud. What exhausts are loud to you? Thermal? Apexi N1?

my definition of loud is low, deep tone. NOT that high-pitched raspy sound.

keep in mind exhaust noise levels tend to change dramatically when mated with other performance bolt ons (header, cat, testpipe)

How can you say that? You have no idea what the original posters setup is going to be, nor girlieb18b's setup. And as for sound....the ITR exhaust is absolutely no way loud.

Sure, I'd like to have a Type R exhaust on my built LS turbo setup. Maybe I can actually lose 50hp on top end.

ive had. a magnaflow straight though oval (quiet), flow master 40 delta (quiet), revolution r1 (loud! but nice tone), flow tech (3 chamber, no baffles, quiet), hks dragger (its sorta loud, doesnt sound as clean and as smooth as the r1 did). i think my my next exhaust id prefer something quiter than this, and something that looks stock

and performance wise my car is stock, i have a aem intake, and an axle back. its pretty much for sound and throttle response only (and a little bit of pulling power at maybe 4500+) a turbo will be coming, but my motor is gonna nedd a lot of work before then and it will probably be a few years, so that doesnt matter right now.

get a quiet exhaust and then install an exhaust cutout so you can make it loud whenever you want to

I've always been a fan of getting what is proven to free up power, rather than getting what sounds good.

my r1 had a silencer. i hated how it sounded with it in though. sounded like a fart cannon. i dont want my car to sound like ****. (not to mention the back pressure im sure it made, probbaly as restrictive as stock.

first gen trust catback for the gsr is the best. they don't make it like they used to anymore.

Yeah, like someone said, get one that meets your purpose. No point getting a loud exhaust when you are going to be commuting most of the time

skunk2 mega power has to be one of the nicest exhaust notes for a B18C (especially when you hit vtec). Deep, throaty, not raspy.

VERY LOUD . A lot of people don't like it for this very reason. Has some of the best gains around for a mass produced cat-back though.

EDIT: People always bash on the skunk2 saying it has that "angry bee" sound. they are so very wrong. I think I'm gonna record mine just to show everyone what it actually sounds like.
