Default auto to manual IACV issue (random thought)

to avoid the problem with a 3 wire auto IACV running with a 2 wire 5 speed ecu,
couldn't you run a d16y7 ecu which runs a 3 wire ECU?
I understand VTEC wouldn't work, but at least you wouldn't get the dreaded CEL # 14

Why would you want to run a particular ECU just for the IACV it controls???

You don't avoid problems, you fix'em. How hard is it to get a 2-wire IACV connector, graft it onto your existing 3-wire harness, and move a wire at the ECU?

i'm just having real bad luck locating a p2p 5 speed ecu while i could easily get a p2e ecu

you CAN technically run the P2E ecu in the meantime, to get around. You obviously won't have VTEC though.

also, here's the a diagram of the "A" plug modification:

since this has been resurrected shortly, I want to swap a y8 intake manifold (from a manual donor car) onto my z6 (a 94 Ex Auto)...will I need to change the wiring in order to keep from throwing a code, or what? just tell me where I can get it, my dad can help with the rest....pllllz

nah, you dont have to worry about a thing for a Z6 engine. The 5speed Y8 mani will bolt up just fine and you dont have to worry about IACV issues at all. One thing you might have a proble with is the throttle cable setup....you might hace to toy around with it....and the IAT sensor, there's no port for the IAT on the Y8 manifold, so you'll have to move it over to your intake tube-pipe, just like how a stock EX intake is setup..
