doing my first lapping day next week.
any suggestions on stuff to bring or just general advice? ill be having an instructor since beaverun requires it for newbies, but just wanted to know of helpful advice or suggestions of anything to do with a lapping day. i guess i just dont want to forget any stupid little details. thanks in advance guys!
Spare front pads and rotors if you have them, water, air guage, condoms, torque wrench, helmet, spare set of tires if there's any question yours will last the whole event, and stuff to snack on in between sessions.
Couldn't agree more. You appear to be in Pittsburgh-so take something warm to wear. Some tracks are known for being a bit windy in the spring (BeaveRun for example). MAke sure the car has been gove over carefully before you leave. We use the NASA and PDA checklists to help tech the cars. Most important-have fun and learn as much as you can.
i almost forgot condoms, lol.
i just changed the rotors and pads to HP+ last week. so i think im ok there. im driving there on my all seaons and changing to my slips/azenis at the track. they shoul dhave enough life to last the day.
i am from pittsburgh(north hills) and currently the weather says its going to be nice. ill keep my fingers crossed.

Don't forget to bring the basic fluids ie: brake, coolant, and oil. bring a roll of paper towels and some glass cleaner too to get all the race rubber ****/marbles off the windshield
good idea on the window cleaner and paper towels.
i cant wait to get out of there. ive driven on the track before but no hot laps. just a few laps under 60mph.

Watch the HP+'s, if it's a particularly heavy-braking track. I don't know the layout (SoCal resident), but I had a set of HP+'s on my Integra at AMP in AZ, which is (sorry, was) all about braking, and I burned, chunked, flat out destroyed the pads and almost torched the rotors in a single weekend (I was afraid to drive 2 miles to the gas station on those brake pads). I learned the hard way that the HP+'s are not the best pads for track use (Hawk does not advise their use on the track, at all. I know, I called them after the fact to complain, and they wouldn't even listen, as that pad is explicitly listed for High Performance Street and Autocross only) Others may flame and say they never had any problems with them on track, and they may be right ( I used stock ceramic pads at Willow Springs last year with no problems at all), but my experience is to not use anything less than the Hawk Blues for the track.
my $0.02.
Good luck, though, have fun, and after next week, you'll be hooked for life.

thanks for the info on the pads. ill have to keep an eye on them between sessions. im guessing ill get about 4-5 20 minute sessions that day. and beaver is fairly hard on brakes from what it seems. but nothing too crazy. i know a few personal friends that have used hp+ on that track with no problems and some in considerably heavier cars than mine. so im hoping for the best.

Are you sure you bed the pads properly? I have had excellent experience with the hp+'s on the track. From Hawk's website, it states, "Race worthy for club racing events".

The HP+ are really more of a high-performance street pad than a race pad. So, they should be fine for a novice at a track event. They are probably not adequate for an intermediate driver.
Just bring a pair of cheap spares in case the HP+ wear out or fall apart.
Stuff to bring:
Brake pads, rotors
Auto Fluids - oil, brake, etc
Glass cleaner
Heavy duty paper towels or shop rags
Torque wrench for lugnuts
spare lug nuts
duct tape
zip ties
hand tools (sockets, screwdrivers, crescent wrenches, etc)
floor jack
sunscreen
sweatshirt
windbreaker
raincoat
sun glasses
hat/cap
helmet
spare shoes and socks, dry clothes in case of rain
snacks, gatorade, water, bag lunch
tarp/ground sheet for laying your stuff on (keep it clean/dry)
folding chairs
notepad and pencil/pen
few cans of beer for multiday events (but drink moderately)

whats the ducttape for? just incase im guessing. or is that for taping the headlights? i was goin gto just use that blue masking tape stuff.

Yup, your car will def. be packed with stuff. You might not use half of it, but better safe than sorry.

Use the painter's masking tape for headlights and door numbers. The masking tape is just in case you really break something.

what day are you going to be there? I plan on heading up for a day next week also. I will bring duct tape and zip ties, that's all we need

Uhhh, yeah, I know how to bed pads properly. It was a particularly aggressive track when it came to the brakes. I'm just saying, keep an eye on them.

Silly Rabbit, it is for the same thing the condoms are for
And don't forget a source of air for your tires (air tank or compressor)
